To those of you with a family member or a loved one in the hospital,

My name is "Matt the Social Worker", and I was with Mill Run for six years. I am leaving this review with tips and advice to help make your stay with Mill Run the best it can possibly be.

To answer the question at the top of your head: Yes, Mill Run is a fantastic care center. The employees are great and hardworking, the vibe is outgoing and friendly, and Mill Run maintains a strong reputation as a great care center in Columbus. If you have a loved one in the hospital and are seeking Short Term Rehab, I would fully recommend having them go to Mill Run for their rehabilitation services.

Question: "What should I bring for my family member?"
Answer: What you would bring going to a hotel: Clothes, Toiletries, and activities (like puzzle books). I would NOT bring: expensive items, jewelry, and family heirlooms. There's no guarantee those items won't be lost in the transition from the Hospital to Mill Run, and we'd rather you not lose them in the midst of your healthcare journey.

Question: "Help, I have a problem, how do I get it resolved?"
Answer: Your strongest tool is communication with the Mill Run team. Mill Run has a strong culture of "If you have a problem, let us know and we'll fix it", however Mill Run NEEDS you to communicate when you have a problem. The Staff are not psychic, they cannot read your mind. If you don't communicate there's a problem, they won't be able to fix it for you.
Key Individuals who can help resolve problems are:

Nursing: Speak to a Unit Manager. Each Hall has a dedicated Nurse Unit Manager who is in charge of that hallway.

Dietary: Dietary Manager for Meals, Nutritionist for Weight loss/Weight gain, and Speech Therapist for Swallowing needs.

Finances and Copays: Business Office Manager

Discharge Planning: Social Services.

One Important Thing: Please ALWAYS try to be respectful to staff even when you're having an issue. The staff genuinely want to help and want to make your experience the best it can be. The more staff feel threatened, the more precautions staff have to take when providing care to your family member (Having a Witness, More Documentation, etc.) and the slower your care could be.

There are more questions I would like to answer here, but alas Google Review's only allow for so many characters, so I will include the remaining questions as photos.

Although I am moving on, I wanted to leave this review to commemorate and acknowledge the many sacrifices and challenges my Mill Run Family has overcome these past several years to provide amazing care to our community. I wish everyone the best with their individual healthcare journey.

- Matthew George, LSW, MSW
AKA “Matt the Social Worker”

My experience here has been great. I had an amazing support team, some of the few wonderful people on my team were Julie and Maria my floor nurses and of course the wonderful Jay the nurses aide. They all were always willing to help me and talk to me.The nights were rougher just with longer wait times but still had a great time here. Another one who was helpful was the activities person Brittany, she helps me order the food I want and always brings a smile to my face. I recommend this place to anyone needing rehab or needs help getting back on your feet. Everyone has gone above and beyond for me and i appreciate it so much.
