I believe in the area of obtaining medical assistance/care whether at a hospital or supporting entities, all we can expect is best effort which in most cases is bare minimum. It’s truly sad when you are met with dry, surly inconsistent reception from staff. When individuals seek out facilities like these it is a cry for help with your physical and mental wellbeing. Why should I believe I am able to get better service from a fast food restaurant than a medical facility that I have placed the total care of myself or loved ones. I believe the entire staff should require weekly if not daily sensitivity training reinforced with a performance management regimen. I am not blaming the warm body that was hired to fill a slot. I blame leadership for hiring and allowing this less than substandard behavior. In other words, ‘you are only as good as your leadership team.’ If an employee respects their leadership and has been trained properly, they would never put them (and the organization) in a bad light. I am now expanding my search for a more suitable facility. It should be a calling for those that wish to work in the field of patient care and not simply a paycheck. Whether you realize it or not, one day you too will require the care of a health center…rehab, nursing, hospital or other. So sad…greatest country in the world???

I am deeply disappointed with the level of care at West Bloomfield Health and Rehab. During our stay in January 2026, my loved one frequently waited over 10 minutes for call lights to be answered, even for basic needs. I personally witnessed a nurse (Naya) chatting in the hallway or walking calmly past rooms without checking in, despite the call lights being active. It appeared she was unwilling to assist with basic hygiene or restroom needs, deferring entirely to aides. This was confirmed to be a violation of facility policy by the nursing manager, who stated both nurses and aides share those responsibilities. For a high-risk fall patient, this lack of urgency is alarming. It is heartbreaking to imagine the experience of patients who do not have family present to walk to the nurse's station to demand assistance. Furthermore, we encountered blatant medical negligence regarding medication. A nurse (Takesha) insisted on administering insulin on her own schedule rather than following the physician’s orders, explicitly stating, “I don’t have to do what the doctor says, I’m the nurse here and I know what’s best for my patients.” When we brought these issues to management, we were told that if our loved one was a high fall risk, we should either hire private 1-on-1 care or find a different facility. It is important to note that there are some great, caring people at this facility—specifically Kendra, Bree, Dorsey, Sonya, and Jay. They were wonderful to work with, but unfortunately, they seem to be the exception in a system that feels severely understaffed and poorly managed. If you have a family member with dementia or high-care needs, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. The lack of accountability and the disregard for doctor-prescribed treatments make this an unsafe environment.

My husband has been in this facility twice with care for over a month each time. Our experience has been wonderful. Nurses and staff respond within a reasonable amount of time. Weekends are a little more difficult, but in comparison to others, they are way better. Rooms are clean and inviting. Best of all is the physical and occupational therapy, which is excellent. We were able to choose our therapist most of the time; in the times our favorites were not available, we found other therapists to be equally as wonderful. The ice cream social every day was something special to look forward to.and the outside patio is charming. We have had problems pop up, but most have been attended to with care and we have been satisfied. I highly recommend this facility
