With all the chaos and commotion that comes with the Holiday's Arcola aka Autumn Lake came through for me. The aides had my Mom up, dressed and ready for the day. I give a standing ovation to the staff that worked with smiles on Christmas day. Bless you!

I am rating them a 2 because of my experience with the bad night crew which made things not good for me but I will give credit to those that deserves it!!!!!! This facility is ok overall BUT it is out dated for all the money they charge per day. The staff is pretty good BUT you got to be on top of the night crew. The day staff are great, including the therapy staff. I have no complaints there. Some of the night crew is horrible and will leave your love ones unattended. There were certain night staff that went above and beyond!!! You must visit often so that they will know not to play with your love ones. The food is awful. They were low on supplies too, like plus size diapers and a lot of other things. I didn’t understand that either again for the amount of money they charge per day!!! This place is majority ran by foreigners, Africans. Some are nice and some are mean,/RUDE. There were some staff that was mean to some of the patients too. Once I started noticing things or my love one would tell me things I started documenting and they cleaned up there act very quickly. My love one was there for almost one month so I seen a lot. I really believe the night crew is bad because at night most of the head staff are gone only leaving shift supervisors in charged. They cover up for each other so get names and learn the roles of each staff person because when they know you know a lot they will do their jobs correctly. Also be sure to get the information to report complaints for Maryland it is usually posted in the main hallway going towards the elevators. Be sure that your love ones have cell phones so that you can call to check in on them through out the day and night if need be!!! I checked everything including the medication being given based on what the doctor prescribed and asked questions. Do not be scared to be a good advocate for your love one to receive proper care!!!! Visited my sister a long time resident and found her to be wonderfully taken care of. Talked with Pat her primary care given and thanked her. My sister is in good hands with people who I trust to properly maintain her comfort and needs. I am very grateful to the staff at Arcola.

The facility looks nice and the lounge and gym areas look clean. The staff people are very pleasant. The problem I had when visiting was things I noticed such as my son’s call button was on the floor, his room phone is not working and I’ve mentioned it several times, his cellphone is not being charged for him, he had a major stroke so he cannot do it for himself especially since they keep things located on his left side, the stroke affected side which makes no since to me whatsoever! They don’t return phone calls in a timely matter and I live in another state and I am very worried about my son. The social worker will return texts messages in a timely matter thank God. Overall I like the place but some things need improvement, no place is perfect, I wish I had more updates on my son’s health and I wish I could speak to him because his whole family is worried, so I definitely will be back soon.
