My experience with this place for the past 13 months has been kind of bad. I have a client there who's also adopted family member that I have guardianship over. You can never get a hold of anybody when you want to talk to them ever. Second of all it takes 2 to 3 months for anybody to respond back to you when you try to get through to them. No matter how many messages you leave. The overall quality of the place kind of smelly. I've never been out back cuz I don't know what that looks like but I do know that the patient that I have over there does not get the overall help he does need and he's not forced to do anything there and a lot of times they do not write down in their books of the progress he has been doing and I have to hear it from a nurse so I don't trust this company at all. I would not recommend this company. I would go to Bloomington to Martin Luther Manor over any other place that I've ever been to or seen or stayed at.

am truly sorry to be writing this report, and at the same time I am genuinely surprised by what I have personally experienced at this facility—especially after seeing the three-star rating and the comments posted on Google. I do understand that most of those reviews date back two or three years, and I did not find many recent reports, which initially gave me some reassurance. Unfortunately, my own experience has been deeply disappointing. The behavior of some staff members is such that it feels as though they have never lived or worked within a healthy and modern professional environment. Basic courtesies such as responding to “hello,” “good morning,” or simple greetings are often ignored. I have never seen a smile on their faces. There is a clear sense of negligence and lack of attentiveness. When you speak to them directly, they look everywhere except at you, as if your presence does not matter. After I shared my concerns and personal experience with the social worker at the facility, one of the nurses later approached my husband during a visit and, as if completely unaware of my prior complaint, stated: “We are short-staffed and under a lot of pressure.” When I responded that these concerns should be communicated to the appropriate supervisors or management, she replied that “they do not care about us because we are Black.” At the same time, I have observed that the Somali nurses generally demonstrate much more respectful and appropriate behavior, whereas those whose conduct has been particularly troubling appear to be Ethiopian. I am stating this as an observation of behavior, not as a judgment, but the contrast has been noticeable. Overall, my impression is that some individuals here are not working with the genuine intention of restoring and supporting patients’ lives. Rather, it feels as though they are present solely to earn an income for their own livelihood, without a sense of responsibility toward the vulnerable people entrusted to their care. I would sincerely like to know: what percentage of the residents who stay at this facility actually leave alive? I believe these concerns deserve serious attention, as they relate directly to dignity, safety, and the quality of care provided to patients during a critical period of their recovery.

The Villas at The Cedars is a beautiful facility and has some of the best staff I've ever seen. Everyone who works there is extremely caring and extremely attentive to each resident knowing them all by name and knows them all on a personal level while ensuring they are getting the best care they need. I highly recommend sending your loved one here if they need a higher level of care.
