We are currently having a terrible experience with Sovran. My mom went there after her hospital stay for what was supposed to be a “short term stay” but we quickly realized it was not the place for her. My siblings and I would like to care for her at home instead but it seems like they are completely unwilling to meet with us to discuss discharge. Seems like a play to get more money by keeping patients. It’s impossible to get in contact with doctors, or nurse practitioners to get a plan in place.

The Laurels of Gahanna is HORRIBLE!!!! Like, if I could give them -0 stars I would. I went to see my mother every single day, 2-3 times a day and the few hours that I was gone they would let her sit in her own feces for HOURS!!!! She had multiple cancers and brain was one type, which means it affected her memory, they would just set her pain medication on the bedside table and not make sure she took it (which left her in pain) she was on a honey thick diet and they continued to give her regular liquid and food (even though I made multiple complaints and brought it to the DON and her nurses attention DAILY) they even blocked her bathroom door with her bedside table, which made her unable to get to the bathroom. For weeks they NEVER took her out of her room. They would just bring her breakfast and lunch in her room and expect her to feed herself (they knew she couldn’t, so her food would sit cold) it got to the point where I had to take time away from work to make her last days comfortable because the staff that was being paid to help me didn’t do their jobs!!!! The staff was extremely rude when I would bring my concerns to them. A nurse actually yelled at me to the point of other staff having to grab her and take her to another room. I had to request that she never had contact with my mother after that. Rita is a PCA there and she is the absolute BEST!!! She is the only person that I trusted with my mother, she truly cares for the residents. If any of y’all are ever in the position that I was in, DON’T SEND YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE!!!

The staff that I've come across taking care of my brother was Absolutely amazing. Nurses- Amanda, Latonya, Mary. The Aides - Emanuella(Emmie), Suzette. I appreciate Mrs. Anita (patient care). I appreciate Ryan & Scott Physical therapy. I also would make known that every staff personal that I'd walk past heading to my brothers room we're pleasant. My only grips are dealing with the doctor's and on-call staff they'd tell you one thing and it wouldn't get done false promises. The dialysis department I can't speak for everyone but their are some that wouldn't lift a finger to help assist anything and I definitely don't like that. I will change my path and say I can appreciate the staff who clean his room and the hallway they are on it daily. Also the kitchen staff everything that came out the kitchen smelled delicious even though my brother may not have eaten everything or took a few small bites he would say it's good. I would definitely like more attention to detail of patients care. The in-house doctor's need to pay attention to whats going on with a patient and not walk in talk and leave without doing anything. To make sure that you understand my rating is for the staff that we've come in contact with and how things look. Definitely not for the doctor's or dialysis department. They'd get a 1 star so make certain that this heard. And if no one knows me which mostly everyone has seen me due to I'm at the facility daily visiting my brother. My wife has never been here but doesn't like what she's been informed of again from the doctor's etc. My brother would give his stamp of approval on my review as well. So please don't let this continue with these on-call people or these get a pay check doctor's. Take better care and listen to your patients. Everyone else seems to (from what I've seen) handle their business. Oh and I had recently met Ms Barbie the social worker she was a God send. And I had only met her yesterday (2/16/26) but I trust she will be on everything that she told me she'd look into.

As a nurse, I had a patient stay here and was unable to reach any nursing staff, inpatient social worker would never return my messages I left and I even asked to be transferred to a unit manager all with zero success and zero return phone calls to coordinate care for my patient staying here. I made about 6 total call attempts to this facility during my patient’s multi week stay here. Furthermore my patient states the staff was very rough and unkind to her during her stay here. I find this very unprofessional.
