About Rochester Presbyterian Home (The Homestead)

The Homestead is a memory care residence located in Rochester's 19th Ward that provides three distinct levels of memory care for persons with mild cognitive impairment through advanced stages of dementia, along with respite and enhanced care services.

The community is structured by floors offering different levels of care. The second floor, called "It Takes Two," serves residents who need assistance with medication management, health supervision, and some personal care while maintaining an active lifestyle. The fourth floor, known as "Penthouse Sweets," provides care for elders with significant memory loss who require assistance with all aspects of daily life, including enhanced care for those needing mobility assistance or behavioral support. Both memory care residences are licensed as Special Needs Assisted Living Residences, with the fourth floor holding an additional license as an Enhanced Care Assisted Living Residence.

The Homestead's respite care program provides temporary care from two to six weeks, ideal for elders needing transitional support after illness or for caregivers needing a break. The facility offers three nutritious meals daily in a communal dining setting with special dietary accommodations, and North Hall features living rooms with a fireplace, a large dining hall, library, and ice cream parlor. Engagement Guides plan daily activities focused on physical, social, and spiritual well-being tailored to individual preferences.

The community implements security measures including secure entry systems and emergency response systems with trained staff. Residents are encouraged to personalize their living spaces and may transition to higher levels of care within the same building as needs change. Administrators serve as primary contacts for families, facilitating regular meetings, calls, email updates, and maintaining open communication channels.

Located on a historic site in Rochester's 19th Ward, The Homestead occupies a quiet, tree-filled environment creating a peaceful setting. Family members are welcome to visit at any time as a 24/7 residence.

My Step Mom moved into the RPH just a few months ago from another Memory Care facility here in the Rochester area that could no longer provide the level of care (2 person assist, mobility issues) that she needed. I found that most other Memory Care facilities didn't offer that level of care either and fortunately I found RPH. The staff from an Administration level all the way through the kind souls working with the residents have been phenomenal. I wish I knew the employee's name, but one of the first things I witnessed there was an aide patiently, with kindness and care give medicine to a resident who truly needed that type of engagement. I learned that this was the rule and not the exception in how residents are cared for. The other thing I noticed as I first started looking at the facility was that when I took the tour, employees were smiling and engaged with residents, other staff and visitors. Again, I came to see that this was not the exception and it makes you feel good knowing that when you leave, your loved one is in kind and capable hands. I really can't recommend this home enough.

Mom has been living at Rochester Presbyterian Home for more than five years and continues to live her best life there. The staff are wonderful. They know her well and our family, too. She receives excellent care, has access to doctors and nurses. She enjoys socializing with residents and staff alike. She is truly loved. The staff care and it shows. It's home away from home. I am grateful that this place exists in our community. Thank you RPH!

The Rochester Presbyterian Home has been a great experience for me and my mother. The home has met all my mother needs with 24 hour care. I feel my mother is in a good and safe place. The staff and administration is great, professional, experienced in memory care and attentive to all my family and mother concerns. The RPH is open to me and my family 24 hour a day to visit or check on my mother and she always been safe and the building is secured. I think what the Rochester Presbyterian Home give me is a peace of mind in regards to my mom.

A little over two years ago, my mom - who was living independently - had a bad fall. We suddenly needed to find a new home for her that could provide a higher level of care. The first placement we found was beautiful, with all the bells and whistles. However, we soon realized the level of care there was inconsistent at best. On top of that she was very depressed over losing her apartment, and we felt we needed to be there every day to care for her. Then we found the Homestead. This is tough for me to write because mom recently passed...tough also because of the immense love and gratitude I have for The Homestead, the staff, her caregivers. Once on the second floor, mom regained her joy! The staff are truly family, a home not just for mom but for us! Especially during all the challenges of Covid. Rebecca the director is truly the most compassionate person. The staff who serve the elders here go above - and - beyond. There are no words for how grateful I am for their love and care for mom - the laughter and love they shared with her, with me! What sets this place apart from the rest is simply the love. I am forever grateful to The Homestead. Highly recommended.
