Rochester Presbyterian Home (The Homestead)

The Homestead is a memory care residence located in Rochester's 19th Ward that provides three distinct levels of memory care for persons with mild cognitive impairment through advanced stages of dementia, along with respite and enhanced care services.

The community is structured by floors offering different levels of care. The second floor, called "It Takes Two," serves residents who need assistance with medication management, health supervision, and some personal care while maintaining an active lifestyle. The fourth floor, known as "Penthouse Sweets," provides care for elders with significant memory loss who require assistance with all aspects of daily life, including enhanced care for those needing mobility assistance or behavioral support. Both memory care residences are licensed as Special Needs Assisted Living Residences, with the fourth floor holding an additional license as an Enhanced Care Assisted Living Residence.

The Homestead's respite care program provides temporary care from two to six weeks, ideal for elders needing transitional support after illness or for caregivers needing a break. The facility offers three nutritious meals daily in a communal dining setting with special dietary accommodations, and North Hall features living rooms with a fireplace, a large dining hall, library, and ice cream parlor. Engagement Guides plan daily activities focused on physical, social, and spiritual well-being tailored to individual preferences.

The community implements security measures including secure entry systems and emergency response systems with trained staff. Residents are encouraged to personalize their living spaces and may transition to higher levels of care within the same building as needs change. Administrators serve as primary contacts for families, facilitating regular meetings, calls, email updates, and maintaining open communication channels.
