About Redeemer Health Care Center

Since 1946, Redeemer Health Care Center has served Minneapolis-area seniors by providing skilled nursing care. It is located in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood on a bus line, close to restaurants, churches, and medical and professional services.

Redeemer is a wellness-focused health care community that combines warmth and hospitality with the expertise of caring professionals. It offers many levels of skilled care, making it suited for those requiring 24-hour skilled nursing, along with long-term care, hospice care, and short-term transitional care for individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or injury.

Located within Redeemer is Grandma's House Children's Center, a Christian child care and early learning center for children six weeks to ten years old. It features small class sizes, a home-like atmosphere, and large outdoor spaces, with regularly scheduled interactions between the skilled nursing residents and the children.

Redeemer traces its founding to 1946, when Rev. Raymond A. Chapman and his wife Hope opened a home for elderly and medically-challenged adults, with room for 18 residents and a staff of three. The community continues to operate today, reflecting its founders' original vision of care attentive to both physical and spiritual needs.

My brother stayed here after surgery. He felt everyone was nice, but no one was competent. Food was cold and unappealing. Likely understaffed. Hard to get attention of anyone. In his weakened state he needed assistance to get to the bathroom. When he requested help no one came in a timely manner. Some situations cannot wait for a 20 minute response. We checked him out after 2 weeks and found that he was in worse shape than when he entered. Four hours after checkout he was back in the ER. Do your homework and avoid places like this. I had a conference with head of nursing. He assured me that he would resolve the issues. He was very pleasant but nothing changed and he failed to call me back as he had promised. Medicare.gov gives them 5 stars, google reviews like mine are closer to the truth.

The medical care is horrendous: nurses are poorly trained, inexperienced. Director of nursing was aware of actions placing my Mom at risk & did nothing. Many aides' English is poor to nonexistent. Rehab: patients are packed into a small 'gym'; short staffing. Obtaining medical records: they're refusing to provide release of information form.

With all the power you have in your mind, body, and soul DON'T leave your family member at this facility.

I was hesitant to come. In the past, this did not have a great reputation. I have been here 4 days now for rehabilitation after a hospital stay. I could not be more pleased. Staff are friendly and very competent, and I am sure I will get the rehab I need to get home.

Our relative was cared for at Redeemer for many months between the TCU and regular skilled care. To a person, the staff were kind, patient, and attended to his specific needs. We will forever be grateful for their loving care.
