It takes a special heart to work in memory care, and we could tell the staff are compassionate and treat the residents like valued family members. The staff are so kind and patient. Our mom was only there for a short time, but we will recommend Emerald Crest and the Cassia group to anyone we know looking for long-term care!

My loved one was here for about 6 months. I’ve heard staff get frustrated and mean with residents in that time. However, the most disturbing has been our transition to hospice. My grandma was declared to be in late stage active dying. And their staff removed her from bed, didn’t keep up on her pain management, had her up in a wheelchair dragging her sore and swollen feet around with no foot supports, and was attempting to feed a woman who was actively dying. She hadn’t been able to swallow in a week. The hospice team (outside entity) was thorough, informed, and so wonderful. Unfortunately, the staff at Emerald Crest clearly did not understand how to properly care for someone in active dying despite the hospice care nurse passing along all appropriate orders and information. My grandma had been peaceful and unresponsive for 24-48 hours with very long pauses between breaths as well. After one night under care here, she has been grimacing, wincing, and groaning and has not regained any level of comfort despite previously being very well controlled and comforted previously. Not only that, they tried to send me a bill increase from almost 10k to over 23k. Even though, hospice care is usually known to reduce costs and most often becomes just room and board with free hospice services through Medicare/Medicaid. Somehow they thought a 13-14k increase was still appropriate. Outrageous and concerning in all regards. DO NOT LET YOUR LOVED ONE STAY HERE WHILE IN NEED OF HOSPICE LEVEL CARE

My Mom has been a resident at Emerald Crest of Shakopee for 7yrs. The knowledgeable staff there has been kind, caring, patient and friendly throughout that time. I appreciate them very much! Activities director Annie does a great job and brings nice energy to the place. Mom really enjoys the live music on Saturdays along with music therapy during the week. The weekly visits and church service with Pastor Arlen are great and much appreciated. I know Mom has enjoyed them. He gets to know the residents and is great at interacting with them.<br>Having three different houses for different stages along with its relatively smaller size is a good model for a memory care facility.

I highly recommend Emerald Crest Shakopee Memory Care. Their care model is unique and tailored for the residents. ECS was my mom’s final home where she lived for almost 3 years. As her dementia progressed, she lived in all 3 houses as the level of care required increased. She was cared for lovingly, with dignity and affection. She enjoyed the activities and especially the spiritual care of Pastor Arlen who instantly became a friend and source of support. The clinical staff is caring and communicative. I had to make the decision to move mom during the height of Covid in a very chaotic time. I am thankful every day that I was led to ECS. I was reassured immediately I had made the right decision.

My beautiful Mom needed extra, special care in her final years and the Staff at Emerald Crest in Shakopee was exactly what she needed. They treated my Mom and the other Residents with patience, kindness and dignity. The lines of communication with the staff and our family was very important to us as they kept us up to date with how she was doing. Pastor Arlen was an added bonus as he does so many wonderful things for the Residents at all the Emerald Crest locations. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
