My mother spent only 2 1/2 months at the Maplewood. Though her time there was short, we saw her go from being reluctant and somewhat resentful of having to leave her home, to being engaged and content. All the things she worried about not liking at a skilled nursing home either never materialized or were proved to be wrong. Mom loved meeting new people, being involved in all the activities provided there, and, most of all the soup. When it came time for her final days, she was no longer a stranger there. Having gotten to know her so well, the staff knew what mom found comfort in (back rubs, Scripture reading, etc). The staff were not only her care givers, they had become her friends.

My mother has been at the Maplewood for over a year and a half and has said many times how happy she is there. We have become friends with staff and residents. They have so many daily activities and many events which they encourage the family to join in. It is a comfort for us knowing she is well taken care of.

At 97 years young, Mom has been at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Webster, NY for 1 1/2 years now. The care there is outstanding. Mom always has a new outfit on each day. I see aides, nurses and volunteers squatting to talk to the residents in wheelchairs at eye level. I see residents being hugged and kissed by aides and nurses. A simple squeeze of the hand communicates so much. The food is AMAZING! I have eaten many meals with Mom and can say each dish is as extraordinary as the next. The activity crew is the very BEST anywhere with activities scheduled all day long, every day. Every resident is encouraged to attend activities and help is always available from staff or volunteers. I can't say enough about the cleanliness of the Maplewood Nursing Home. Resident's rooms are always clean, and bathrooms sparkle. Staff and volunteers greet Mom by her first name. Mom looks like a movie star after the beauty salon gets done with her. And the physical therapy department monitors Mom's physical needs and initiates therapy as needed. It feels like home. The best compliment I can offer came from Mom's own words. She asked, "How long can I stay here?"

I had heard great things about Maplewood so I was very happy and relieved when I was able to get my mom in. They are even better than I imagined! The nursing and therapy staff simply can't be beat. They are kind, hardworking, compassionate and keep in close touch with me. The recreation programs and staff are terrific. The building and grounds are like a lovely resort. The peace of mind I have knowing my mom feels safe and is so well cared for is priceless. I highly recommend Maplewood.

My family member has lived at Maplewood for three and a half years. The facility is gorgeous, with waterfalls at each entrance, fresh cut flowers on display and wonderful food. The staff is conscientious - they actually care - and many of them have been there for several years. The recreation staff is so good! They go to great lengths to get the residents involved. Bingo, UNO, Chorus, painting are some of the activities offered on a regular basis. It’s not easy having someone else care for your parent. This place helps make it somewhat less difficult.
