The staff was very rude. They would talk about patients and visitors so that others could hear. It could take an hour for them to answer the patient’s call. One day the staff had a meeting, left the floor, and there was no one to meet the patients’ needs! They did not clean a patient completely if they had had a bowl movement. A patient needs to be able to take care of her/himself to be there. Awful.

Our mother was in this place for a month (Jan. 2024) and developed C-Diff. Instead of being treated for it, they let her suffer (and I do mean SUFFER) in agony, and when she was soiled, they wouldn't clean her up for hours. We asked for her to be bathed so her skin wouldn't be so irritated, but they only bathe residents once a week, no matter what. They placed her soiled clothing in garbage bags for family to take home to wash, and the stench in her room from the bagged up, infectious, laundry was over whelming. When we brought our concerns to the powers that be, we were told, in a nutshell, that if we didn't approve of how they did things, we could pack up our mom and leave. This wasn't a one-time event... the entire month she was there she was ignored, forced to eat (which made her vomit), the daily PT was was to receive was sporadic at best. This was our first experience with transitional housing (rehab) and did not know what to expect, but we sure expected better than what we got! We will NEVER use this place again!!! And.... two days after being released from this "care" facility, our mom was back in the hospital because the C-Diff was that bad. Their lack of care made our mother very, very sick. Zero out of five stars. Not recommended. Wish they could be closed down.... Or fined.

Horrible place, my sister is currently a patient there. Calls me on a regular basis to get someone to help her. She has had her call light on for 50 minutes, I call and the desk operator to get someone to come to her room. She explained she is in pain and has been calling out for help and I interrupted and ask for who was in charge. The male stated he would not speak to me and told my sister to hang up and walked out. I advised my sister to call 911! She is not able to walk due to a spinal cord injury and this is how you are treated when no one is watching. The paramedics showed up to find me sister with a high fever and will be taking her to the hospital. The nurses are not from this country and have very little training and knows no one will do anything and the patients are helpless to do anything! They take advantage of this fact and are allowed to get away with treating patients less than human. Just read some of the reviews. Its a revolving door with underpaid staff and thats only part of the reason the care is horrible! Elijah the head nurse calls me an 2 hours later to tell me my sister was taking to the hospitial and how they missed her high fever due to the A/C! I asked how they missed the call light and cries for help for 50 minutes. He stated he was only calling to let me know she was at the hospital ! Did you really think i didnt know that Einstein! This place needs to be shut down. Good Samaritan is a joke! And I will continue to warn about this place! Shame on North Memorial Hospital for sending people here. I wouldn't send a dog there! Someone please help ! There will be a review daily. Everyday! I will also be writing news channels til I get someone to take notice of the poor treatment of patients here. The health care system has fallen short and needs to be better. People don't come to nursing homes/rehabs by choice. They come for help and to be treated with respect, like human beings. Good Samaritan is not that. The name should be changed to something more fitting cause it's not good. Unfortunately the few staff that do care can't be recognized because there are more bad than good.

My husband was transferred by a wheelchair van from North Memorial to Good Sam Robbinsdale after a hospitalization for an infection. He has dementia among other health concerns and was sent there for rehab to build back some physical strength and cognitive skills. The PT, OT and Speech therapists were awesome. The front desk was also very good. He was admitted on a Friday evening so nothing happens until Monday at these places (and I mean nothing). That was one long, frustrating and exhausting weekend. The nursing staff and aides were completely inattentive and absent. Their attitudes were indifferent at best and even abrasive in some cases. They literally left him in bed until 10 or 11AM after he had been there since 7pm the night before. Didn't help with any dressing or bathing even though it was obvious he couldn't do it himself. On Monday I met with the Nursing Manager to level set and see if we were in the right place for him. She assured me it was and they indeed do care for memory and brain trauma patients. I gave her examples of the inattentiveness over the weekend and she said she'd make sure he received better care. It improved slightly, but he also was becoming more independent from the therapy sessions. By that Thursday it was back to little or no help; the only time anyone checked on him was to give him pills or tell him it was meal time. I was there everyday and 90% of the time the nurses and aides were sitting behind the desk or at a table on their laptops or phones. I never saw any engagement with patients, I never witnessed any compassion for my husband or anyone else there, I never saw any real medical/personal care given. Any help had to be requested and lots of pushback when I pointed out some of their shortcomings. The only time I felt he was in good hands was with therapy. If it weren't for OT he would have never had a shower or shave in 2 weeks. The aides never ever offered to help him bathe, shave, or brush his teeth. He literally smelled and I ended up bathing him and changing his clothes the days OT didn't. Completely unacceptable. If you're going to rehab for a broken bone and mostly can take care of yourself, then I suppose this is an ok place for you. If you need a higher level of monitoring/help, then not so much. The sad part is, it's probably the same everywhere because they don't pay the CNAs and Nurses enough while these nursing homes and facilities are making money hand over fist.

I have just begun my journey with Good Samaritan but so far I have been impressed with their professional demeanor, friendliness, kindness and care and attention to my family. Nighttime staff is truly the rest for any hospital or care facility as far as I am concerned because doctors and administration is nowhere to be found. Those on duty have only their integrity to guide them and a night time supervisor. It's hard for most places to get good staffing at night so expecting miracles from these places is not it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by GS's staffing last night. Small kindnesses add up for me. Helping my Dad out to the car after a visit, making sure his visit was pleasant in the first place. Giving me water when I needed it without me asking. I'll be meeting the day staff today so I'll keep you updated but so far I'm impressed.
