My mother is in memory care at Copperfield. Other than a couple hiccups, she is well cared for. Amy head of nursing in the unit is very responsive and does a good job addressing any concerns I have.

My mother was in the memory care unit at the Lodge for almost 10 years. The staff loved and cared for her, especially in her last years there. They brought in treats, gave parties for the residents, did her nails and hair and generally had endless patience with people with dementia. When my mom was in hospice in the last year, I happened to be there when the nurse from the hospice was there to check on my mom. She told me that she goes to many memory care facilities and she said that the staff at Copperfield was one of the best she encountered. She said it is obvious that they cared for the people there. Also Chrissy, the manager at the lodge listened to my concerns about working with Medicaid and provided my guidance on how to get through the application process. She was a life saver and I am grateful for her advice and unwavering support.

The physical building may not be the fanciest, but the people working there more than make up for it. It was a safe and loving place for my mom and me during her long goodbye. I am forever grateful to them.

Initially my review was poor because the staff was not great and care was less than ideal. But the team here has worked hard to make improvements and step it up. The nurses and managers are above and beyond! They do more than just the daily tasks, they take time to really know my mom. The aids… well that’s another story, some are awesome - and some seem like they should quit immediately because it’s clear they have no interest in caring for people. Sadly - that’s a reality and pretty much all care facilities.

Updated 3/12–Copperfield was not a good place for my loved one suffering from dementia. My loved one lived here for about 2 years in the memory care and assisted living facility. While in memory care, my loved one's access to fresh air and sunshine was very limited due to the facility being on the 2nd floor and there not being any programs to take her outside. The only way she could access outdoors was for family to come and take her out. In my opinion, the menu is subpar - hotdogs and soup. Food that could be reheated quickly using a microwave. There were no or minimal programs to support socialization and quality of life. When visiting, I frequently noticed there was a very limited number of staff available to provide care. My loved one suffered from incontinence and her bedding was not managed well. While at the facility my loved one was prescribed a medication that has been shown in studies to not be good for patients with Dementia. While the medication was prescribed ny the facilities partner medical physicians, I believe the floor nurse at the facility and the partnering physician should have had a discussion with me about this medication before it was prescribed. I notice other residents in my loved one's room rumbling through her things on multiple occasions. My loved ones Dementia seemed to have gotten worse while living there. My loved one appeared to be excessively sleepy and drowsy during visits. I moved my loved one to a better place and she is thriving now. Her dementia got better. I did very much appreciate the level of care provided by the nurse Cassie but one person cannot do it all.
