Moving both of my parents into memory care 8 months ago was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I cannot visit them as often as I would like but thank goodness for the staff at Cotter House. The love, care, and communication from all the staff has given me tremendous peace of mind.<br>When we first moved them in, I was overwhelmed with worry and second guessing whether I was doing the right thing. Nurse Donna was such a gift during that time. She was understanding, comforting, and reassuring, and it was clear she had walked many families through these same heartbreaking struggles.<br>Casie has been incredibly helpful in keeping me informed when something would make things easier or better for them. She even takes the extra step of finding examples on Amazon and sending them to me, which makes it simple for me to respond quickly.<br>Gretchen has shown incredible care for my parents. She took the time to sit with my mom with a laptop to make sure she could attend an important court hearing over Zoom. She has also taken time to sit and have thoughtful, meaningful conversations with my mom regarding my dad and the many changes in mom’s life. Her willingness to listen and support my mom in processing those changes means a great deal to our family.<br>Lisa discovered that my mom had been her partner’s elementary school teacher, which created such a special connection between them. Lisa once sent me a picture of my parents visiting together which was so reassuring as I was out of town.<br>One time when I was visiting, we ran into Lisa in the hall and my mom immediately walked up and hugged her. Seeing that kind of genuine affection and trust between them eased my heart tremendously. I’m very grateful for the care and warmth Lisa shows my mom.<br>My heart goes out to anyone whose loved one has dementia and facing many difficult decisions. Thank goodness someone had recommended Cotter House to me last year. I am able to sleep at night because I see how much the staff loves my parents and because I know they will call or text me right away and vice versa, whether it is a medical issue or dad could use a new pair of slippers.

We feel fortunate to have found Cotter House for both of my parents. Their journey began when we realized they were not safe to stay at their home. We initially found another excellent place for them where they received top-tier care. But then dad fell and broke his hip, and mom had a stroke. After rehab, they were ineligible to return to their previous place.<br><br>Because of their different needs, we thought they would need to be in separate facilities, but Cotter House made it possible for them to live in the same facility in two separate neighborhoods. Now they have their individual needs met and come together for activities and shared events.<br><br>The staff is amazing! From the moment they arrived, Tammy, Gretchen, Donna, Casie, and many aides welcomed Mom and Dad with open arms. They receive genuine care, thoughtful attention, and lots of love from the staff. The PT and OT have also been a big plus for mom and dad. The therapists are compassionate and encouraging. And the food is fresh and delicious.<br><br>Cotter House is top tier. We are so glad that my parents are at Cotter House. After visiting them, I feel relieved to know that when we say goodbye, they are in the best of hands, and I do not worry about the care they receive in their new home.

Placing my dad in memory care was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make, especially coming from a facility that wasn’t able to meet his needs. From my very first interaction with Cotter House, I felt a level of compassion and attentiveness that truly set it apart.<br><br>I visited multiple times—both announced and unannounced, on different days and times—and the feeling was always the same: calm, compassionate, and genuinely attentive. The staff took the time to understand my dad—quirks (he has lots) and all—before he even walked through the door.<br><br>Every staff member knows him—even housekeeping. I’m always welcomed warmly, like today when “Miss May May” (my nickname for her) in laundry greeted me with a big hug—she’s a rockstar, they all are!!!<br><br>They care for him with kindness and dignity, reflecting the level of love and attention I would want for him every day. The facility is clean, calm, and comforting—never chaotic or unpleasant.<br><br>Because of the Cotter Crew I can finally breathe at night and begin to live my life again, finding balance in the emotional roller coaster this despicable disease brings!!! Communication is incredibly important to me, and they have exceeded my expectations. They’ve even embraced my own quirks—and in just nine months, they’ve truly become like family.<br><br>For someone like my dad, that sense of peace and “home” matters more than anything. And for me, it means everything, I’m extremely grateful.

3/2/26... PLEASE READ THIS!!!!! As you can see many other's have a total of 1or two maybe, some with a few more review's. And it's likely for the Kemper House Worthington idk 🤔 However you'll want to keep control and in contact with your family member in this facility. Put camera's in the room with your loved one.<br><br>As of 3/2/2020... When we moved our mother out it was NOT because of COVID-19. We gratefully got our mother back in our care, in doing so we extended her life! She came back to us in many ways considering the circumstances of her disease. Praise the Lord 💓🙏....<br>Our mother moved in the 1st of November 2019. In the beginning the staff, nurses and aides were very helpful, kind, caring, understanding, and really accommodating! They were polite, and professional. It seemed to be a great fit for our mother's needs. Another plus it was conveniently located for myself and siblings. We met Greg, Dan and many staff, nurses, aides, residents and their families. I was going there a lot because I felt I needed to and I was able to. It was the 1st facility we admitted our mother in, and by the Grace of God it was the LAST!! As time went by we weren't seeing consistency in areas of great importance -- Lack of staff, lack of hygiene and care she started getting bed sores because of the lack of attention.They were leaving her alone in the dining room, tv room, even in the hallway. She was able to feed herself as well as walk with her walker when we admitted her. In just 4 months at Kemper House she was not capable to do either when we removed her!! In our opinion shift changing and charting information whether it's nursing staff and or the aides wasn't being passed on from one shift to another... Complete and total lack of communication and supervision! Which is extremely important for the appropriate care of the residents and their families peace of mind!! There were situations that occurred yet none of the staff, nurses and or aides couldn't/ wouldn't provide us any answers. That was disturbing to us. Because of lacking of staff, only one aide instead of two tried to pick her up and he dropped our mother and broke her hip. We had noticed the swelling and her complaining of pain. X-ray's showed a right hip break required surgery with rods and screws. Clothing was missing, eye glasses missing, jewelry box missing, bedding items missing. Other residents wandering in and out of our mother's room. We never got any of those items back upon us removing her from the facility! We tried our best to make it work as a family trying to TRUST in Kemper House Worthington. We fell for all the bells and whistles which at the time were not even available upon her residing there... It was also obvious at times they were over medicating our mother 💔 Unfortunately they really didn't take care of our mother as well as they said they would. We expected much more especially for the cost they charged us, very disappointing in their lack of care and concern for their residents and loved ones 😔.... Our mother has now gone home and she has gotten her wings R.I.P. mother no more confusion or pain ❤️

My family and I are incredibly grateful for the exceptional care my mom receives there at the Cotter House. We can’t say enough about the amazing people who care for her — the staff embodies everything you would hope for in a care team: they are kind, loving, attentive, compassionate, empathetic, and thoughtful.<br><br>Although we had always hoped my mom could remain in her own home, her journey with dementia has made that impossible. The Cotter House has become her new home — not just a place to live, but a community where she is engaged, supported, and genuinely cared for.<br><br>The relationships she’s formed with both the residents and the staff have brought her joy and comfort, and for that, we are endlessly thankful. We feel truly blessed to know the extraordinary people who make The Cotter House such a special place, and we are thankful for the love and kindness they have shown to our mom.<br><br>Cotter House- THANK YOU!!!
