As a smaller senior living community, Union Grand offers a warm, personal atmosphere where team members take time to learn each resident's preferences, routines and interests.

Assisted living residents receive personalized assistance with daily activities such as medication management, bathing, dressing, mobility and personal care, along with wellness monitoring and housekeeping. Care plans are individualized and can be adjusted as needs change, with the team working closely with residents, families and healthcare providers. A Stay Together program allows qualifying couples to continue living together even if one partner requires additional support, and care staff are available around the clock. Memory care offers specialized support in a secure, supportive environment for those living with memory-related conditions. Respite care is also available for short-term stays, whether recovering after a hospital stay, giving a family caregiver a break, or exploring assisted living before making a long-term decision.

Apartment options include private studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom residences, many featuring kitchenettes and private bathrooms. Community amenities include outdoor gardens with flowers and hummingbirds, a spacious activity room, a movie theater, a grand piano, a library, resident lounges, outdoor patio spaces and comfortable gathering areas. On-site beauty and barber services are also available. Residents enjoy three chef-prepared meals daily, with a dining program shaped in part by monthly menu meetings where residents share feedback.

A vibrant calendar of social, educational and recreational programs includes happy hours, themed events, movie nights, bingo, resident outings, Friday social gatherings, live music from local performers, ice cream socials and outings to museums, shopping and other Seattle attractions. Residents have opportunities to participate in worship services, spiritual programs and faith-based activities reflecting a range of traditions and beliefs. Family and friends, including children and pets, are welcome to visit, join residents for meals or attend events together.

Union Grand sits within Seattle's First Hill medical district, giving residents convenient access to nearby physicians, specialists and hospitals, and the team assists with coordinating healthcare appointments and transportation. My dad moved in at the end of May and all is going well. From the first tour with the manager, Patrick, and the second tour with Andrew, both of them offered us a warm reception and valuable information. On move-in day everybody on the staff came to my dad and welcomed him. It felt really nice. Such a difficult time for him, so the friendly environment made a difference. Now that we’re a few weeks, he’s happy with his apartment and really enjoys the dining room and food. We’ve been pleased with all the services as we visit several times a week and it’s always seemed very active and upbeat. I’m happy we chose this home.

Nothing but problems since moving my parents here. More to follow soon. DO NOT send your loved ones here if you truly care about them.

Very clean and spacious public areas. Excellent attention to my vegetarian principles. Extremely friendly staff. Super neighborhood if you like First Hill/Capitol Hill as much as I do.

My 99 Year Old Mom and I were looking for an Ideal community and Found it in Truewood by Merrill Gardens in First Hill Seattle. Many of the staff members have worked there 10+ years. Mom is treated warmly and with respect. Her Studio is Bright and full of light from large windows facing east. With advanced care she is well taken care of which is a great comfort for me and my Family. I would rate it 5 stars for Cleanliness, overall ambience, attentive staff and delicious dining. There are numerous activities whether stationary or active. And live Music on Thursdays and Fridays, their version of happy hour. It’s a well rounded place. I highly recommend to all families looking to place their loved ones in a safe, enriching environment.

I wanted to take some time before writing this review. I toured the building back in September and initially tried to let my experience go, but it continued to bother me for months, which is why I feel compelled to share it now. During my visit, someone kindly showed me around the building while I was looking into housing options for my mother and father. The staff were pleasant, and I genuinely feel for them having to work in such difficult conditions. Unfortunately, the building itself was extremely uncomfortable. There appears to be little to no insulation, and the temperature inside was overwhelming. I mentioned this during the tour and was shocked to learn that the building has no air conditioning at all. This was very concerning, especially when considering the well-being of my parents. As I was making this decision on their behalf, the lack of air conditioning ultimately became the deciding factor for not moving them in. While there is an option to rent a portable air conditioner, the additional monthly cost felt petty and like nickel-and-diming residents for basic comfort. For a building like this, that is unacceptable. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and considers making necessary improvements for both residents and staff. Cogir Queen Anne It is!
