Our experience with The Sheridan at Park Ridge has been extremely disappointing. The most concerning issue is the apparent lack of leadership, professionalism, and competent staffing. There does not seem to be adequate accountability when serious problems arise, and concerns are not being handled with the urgency, transparency, or professionalism that residents and their families deserve.

There has also been a concerning lack of transparency from staff regarding health-related concerns, including issues that may affect the broader resident community. Families should be kept appropriately informed when there are significant health or safety concerns that could potentially affect residents. Instead, communication has often felt inadequate, inconsistent, or lacking important information. Residents and families deserve timely, clear communication so they can make informed decisions and take appropriate precautions when necessary.

We have also been concerned by the conduct and professionalism of some members of leadership. Leadership staff have been overheard speaking disparagingly about former employees. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding an employee's departure, hearing leadership speak negatively about former staff raises concerns about professionalism, workplace culture, and how disagreements and personnel matters are handled.

The quality of the food has also been a significant disappointment. Meals have frequently been poor in quality, and the food does not meet the standard we would expect for an assisted living community where residents depend on the facility for their daily meals.

Overall, our experience has raised serious concerns about management, accountability, communication, transparency, staff professionalism, and quality of care. Families considering this community should ask detailed questions about how complaints are handled, how individual and community-wide health concerns are communicated, how leadership addresses staffing concerns, and whether the community consistently follows its own policies and standards.

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Our family made the decision to remove our loved one from The Sheridan after only two months. That alone should say enough.

The facility does an excellent job creating a positive first impression, but our experience after move-in was incredibly disappointing. What appeared to be a caring and professional environment quickly became a source of constant stress, frustration, and concern for our family.

We repeatedly brought concerns to the attention of Sunny and Tracie, yet we often felt ignored, dismissed, or given excuses instead of solutions. Families should never have to repeatedly chase answers, follow up on concerns, or feel like they are inconveniencing staff simply by advocating for their loved one.

We documented numerous concerns throughout our loved one’s stay and ultimately lost confidence in the facility’s ability to provide the level of care, attention, and professionalism that was promised. The difference between what was presented during the admissions process and what we experienced day-to-day was significant.

The most disappointing part was feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously despite being raised multiple times. When families place a loved one in a care facility, they are placing an enormous amount of trust in the people responsible for their well-being. Once that trust is broken, it is extremely difficult to regain. Ontop of all of this, our love one was neglected and the staff did not care. We were paying for level 5 care, yet our loved one was receiving below level 1. The rooms were not unkept to the “promise” and often heard CNA’s and staff giving attitudes and dirty looks to visitor’s.

After only two months, we felt that remaining at The Sheridan was no longer in our loved one’s best interest and made the difficult decision to move them elsewhere.

If you are considering this facility, look beyond the beautiful building and ask hard questions. Visit often. Pay attention to how concerns are handled after move-in, not just during the tour. Based on our experience, we would never choose The Sheridan again and would strongly encourage other families to carefully explore all available options before making such an important decision.
