My mom moved into the Evergreen memory care community, and her experience there was better than anything we could have hoped for. The staff immediately treated her like family and helped her get quickly acclimated to a new environment, as well as provided me (as her primary caregiver) with incredible support through the onboarding/move-in process. The executive leadership team, Medical Technicians, and Care Staff always displayed compassion, and proactively provided updates on her daily activities and overall condition. They care for the residents in their communities and keep them engaged with daily activities, events, and weekly outdoor excursions. My mom had a ton of fun and truly seemed happy for an extended period of time as they helped her rediscover some enjoyable independence. I’m forever grateful for their emotional support while we navigated her health issues. Much love to The Ridge for taking care of my mom during such a difficult time. I have an enormous amount of respect and gratitude for the entire staff. The only constructive criticism I can provide is that they need some more of those excellent resources because at times they can be spread thin when understaffed.

Choosing a memory care facility for my dad was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I was terrified of him becoming just "part of a business plan" and nervous about giving up control. I knew I needed to move from being a caretaker back to being his daughter, but I constantly wondered: Could I find a place that would care for him like I would? The answer is a resounding YES at The Ridge in Westlake. It is a true hidden gem. After researching every option and watching this facility being built, I was initially hesitant about choosing a newer place. That changed the moment I met the "heart" of the operation. Ivette (Memory Care Director): Ivette is incredible. Her expertise and accessibility are unmatched. She truly listens, keeps me posted, and I genuinely feel she keeps a personal eye on my dad. She is a kind soul who ensures his quality of life is excellent. Ian (Health Services Director): A true med-tech extraordinaire. Juggling medications is a massive task, and Ian is a pro who stays on top of every detail behind the scenes. Tonya (Activity Coordinator): I call her the "Cruise Director." She has the utmost patience and creativity, engaging residents at all different levels with physical activity and brain games. Her kindness radiates, and the weekly excursions are a wonderful touch. The Care Staff: I wish I could name them all in this post. This is a hard job, and they are amazing. I feel so lucky knowing they love my dad and made it a priority to get to know him. It didn't take long for them to figure out he loves to sleep in, needs his paper in the morning, and is always down for anything with chocolate! I pop in all the time and can always count on them. If you are reading this, you’re likely navigating a difficult chapter that nobody prepares you for. You will doubt yourself, and the transition is hard. But the peace of mind here is real. The best testament I can give is a text my dad sent me the other night: "They are making me hot chocolate with marshmallows. I love this place! 😃" The Ridge is secure, safe, and fun. When I leave my dad, I don't worry—and that is worth every penny. Yes, they are still working some things out as a newer facility, but don't let that push you away. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is an opportunity you shouldn't overlook. Come visit—my dad would be the first to tell you how happy he is to call this place home.

I must share my experience with The Ridge in Westlake Village because I am honestly beyond impressed with this particular senior community. The Ridge’s staff makes one feel authentically welcome from the minute you walk into their beautiful lobby. If you get the opportunity to meet with Marketing Director, Ashley Villarreal, I say with all confidence that you’re certain to come away with the same impression I did: not only is she genuinely kind, lovely, and knowledgeable…she is also very professional, patient, and warm. Ashley answered all of my questions and concerns in a timely manner and with tenderness and transparency. She consistently made herself readily available to myself and my mother, always making every effort to satisfy worries and put my mother at ease. Ashley is very thorough with explaining all of the resources and services available on The Ridge’s campus…which there are many of! This *season of life* for one’s parent(s) is not an easy one; especially when you’re the *only family* that your parent has (which is my situation). It’s quite a daunting life-chapter, but with the devoted help, seasoned direction, and gentle hand holding of Ashley Villarreal, it’s a much more enjoyable experience…as you know that your loved one is in more than qualified hands. I highly recommend that you tour this very unique and luxurious living space that is part of our very charming community. You can rest assured that Ashley and her staff will offer you depth of knowledge, immeasurable integrity, and authentic kindness as you navigate this journey with your parent or loved one.

The Ridge makes a nice first impression with its new hotel-like design, gourmet looking restaurants, polished tours, and big promises of exceptional care. Unfortunately, once you move in, those promises quickly fall apart and you realize this is not what you signed up for. The day-to-day reality does not match what’s advertised, especially for residents who need genuine support and assistance. Even the reality of cleanliness is realized (example, an ant problem that they do not address) along with the realization that the "farm to table food" is just defrosted junk (example, being served a half-frozen pancake for breakfast.) Behind the elegant facade, the level of care provided falls far short of what’s promised. The community is seriously understaffed, making it impossible for caregivers to meet residents’ needs in a safe or timely manner. That lack of staffing leads to very long response times for calls or medical alerts, which is both unsafe and unsettling. Some calls for help have even gone unanswered. Most of the staff are kind and try their best, but there simply aren’t enough of them to provide consistent care. The difference between day and night coverage is also noticeable, with the night staff being subpar and even have been caught sleeping on the job, and overall, the resident-to-caregiver ratio feels too unbalanced. There is no way there are enough caregivers to respond and take care of that many residents. If you’re looking for dependable care, reliable support, and peace of mind, The Ridge is not the right choice. What’s most disappointing is how much is promised versus what’s actually delivered. Families and residents deserve better than unkept promises, poor oversight, uncommunicative and unhelpful management when addressing these concerns and an environment that doesn’t live up to what you are paying for.

My mom moved in April 2025 and it’s been a wonderful experience. The staff is very helpful and Ian helped us with all our questions and concerns. Her studio apartment is beautiful, light and bright. It has everything she needs. My family is happy my mom has 24 hour care just in case she needs something in the middle of the night. Mom says, “The “J’s” Jenna, Jess, Jaclyn and Jessica greet me with bright smiles and morning coffee. Ditto Liz with a big “Good Morning.” Linda, Sway, Nan and Isa are all warm and efficient providing all the care I could ask for. Shout out to Robert who has come to my rescue twice!” Thanks to all at The Ridge who look after our mom Marilyn. We are so grateful for your care.
