My dad is a stroke victim and today my dad met the rudest nursing assistant that when my dad was trying to explain things he told him if he didn’t lay down that if he didn’t follow orders that he would leave him all by himself self the rest of the night and handle things by himself . His name is Danny and when the staff nurse showed up he lied about saying it . If he talks like this in front of his family imagine what he says or does to patients that are none vocal or has no family to defend them . And the fact that a complaint was filed to the higher ups and he still works there is a problem ! If you don’t have patience this isn’t the job for you !

We have nothing but great things to say about Northway Health and Rehab. The administrator, Webster, and Director of Nursing, Seneca, are always available and ready to help. The nursing staff treats their patients like family, and this makes the decision to leave a loved one here much easier.

Imagine this. Your mother has rapidly-deteriorating Alzheimer's. She's been in a psych ward in the hospital and now she has to go to a nursing home. She is poor and will be relying on Medicaid. After weeks, she is finally being transferred to a nursing home. You're grateful because it will be better than the hospital, you think. Your sister Facetimes you. Your mother just arrived at her room at Northway. She is sobbing. Loudly. The phone pans around the room. It looks worse than the hospital room she just left. Your mother with dementia is saying it's too hot. You hear someone offer to turn a fan on. Your sister hands the phone to the employee. "Hi," you say, "who's this?" "I'm a medical tech," she says. "And the administrator told me to tell you that if she doesn't want to be here, we can't keep her here. We can refund you." Stunned, you reply "I was only going to ask about the air conditioner. Does she have one in the room?" "Oh, yes she does. It might be off. Or it might be on heat. I'll check." "Please do. And what were you talking about? Are you saying you are going to let my mother with Alzheimer's leave? Isn't it normal to not want to be placed in a nursing home, doesn't this happen all the time?" "Oh, um, yeah, I don't mean that we're going to let her leave. I just mean that we can't keep her here." "What are you--" cut off. The med tech hands the phone back to your sister. Then your mother starts threatening to kill herself. And they send her back to the hospital in an ambulance. Your sister tells you later that no nurse was around. That the facility was just awful. Run-down. Apparently short-staffed. You search Medicare.gov for reviews of Northway. One star. Not surprising. You decide to write a review on Google to warn others. UPDATE: Fun fact, they sent my mother to the hospital via 911 when she threatened to commit suicide due to the conditions here. The hospital discharged her soon after arrival because they recognized she was fine. Called Northway to send her back and they denied admitting her! They straight up lied and said she didn't set foot in her room! Illegal, unethical, immoral. Stay away from this place. You've been warned.

An elderly family friend had to spend 2 weeks here, recently, at the recommendation of her doctor for rehabilitation. She informed me that she cried for the entire 2 weeks. She notes that the staff is very rude, and verbally abusive to the patients. Her roommate was very afraid to speak up, in fear she would receive mistreatment. I am encouraging her to reach out to an Ombudsman to follow up on her concerns.
