I recently just completed a rehab stay at South Health and Rehab. My stay was welcoming and the staff was very warm. I truly needed this not just for my physical abilities. This stay has truly blessed me mentally as well. The staff were very welcoming, always kind, and the community of people was nice and friendly. The community of residents seems to be happy with their place of home. I highly recommend for anyone needing rehab or to stay long term. This place has truly been a blessing to me.

My name is Ronald Mckeithen. I'm the Director of Second Chance at Alabama Appleseed. South Health has been a life saver for us at Appleseed. One of our clients wasn't being treated as well as we felt he should at another facility. We could see the difference as soon as we walked in. Our client has not only received the rehab that he so much needed, but the staff there has made him feel so welcomed and cared for that we couldn't be more pleased with their professionalism.

I've heard amazing things about the care shown to your patience and I'm encouraged to know that places like this still exist. It takes a calling from God to care for children and the elderly, and from what I have heard y'all have that. Thank you so much for all you do to help folks.

South Health and Rehabilitation does a great job in caring for their patients. The staff treat patients like members of their own family. This is a relatively small facility which allows them to have a better staff to patient ratio than most similar rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities in my experience. I highly recommend South Health and Rehabilitation to anyone in need of rehabilitation or skilled nursing care.

My older brother has severe cognitive impairment and, after a number of falls at home, had to move to a place where he can get around-the-clock care. He had open heart surgery in 2021, and did his rehabilitation at South Health and Rehabilitation (SH&R). We were impressed by the level of care and attention he received back then. When we were given the list of facilities for this most recent medical issue, we were happy to see SH&R listed. He was quick to say, “I like that place and the people that work there. They were so nice to me. I want to go there.” From the very beginning, the staff made the process as easy for us as they possibly could. I was especially grateful to Shanetrice Fortner in Admissions for being so thorough in explaining everything to us. We are able to make informed decisions about my brother’s care and ongoing needs, and this has been the case since Day One (May, 2025). They always let me know if there are important issues that need to be discussed, and it had taken away so much worry I’ve had concerning my brother’s safety. Granted, this is not a five star hotel. But it’s the best managed nursing home facility I’ve ever seen personally. And the food prepared for the residents is very appealing! My brother says he enjoys every meal. Most importantly, the staff there are kind, compassionate, professional and communicative. I tell them regularly how grateful we are to have them caring for my brother. I highly recommend them.
