Care in the skilled rehab unit was nearly non-existent. From lack of answering call lights to providing bedside care was all extremely poor. Call lights were left unanswered and turned off from somewhere other than the room. Assistance was needed to open drinks from meals but was rarely done. When I arrived each day my mom said she was so thirsty and no one would come to open drinks. One day she had messed herself and again pulled call lights numerous times- no one comes but light go back off. After cleaning her up I left linens in the basket and set it by the door. Took picture of it still sitting there 24 hrs later. Rehab protocol was 20 reps for each exercise. When I questioned that amount was told that was standard for everyone. I’ve had physical therapy myself on many occasions. 10 reps is the standard especially when starting out. Mom was 91 and she tried her best to do 20. She was always an “ I can do it” kind of woman no matter the cost to her own well- being.<br>One day she was placed in isolation “ we think she has the flu”. When questioned this due to no symptoms and had not been informed of any testing being done the response was “ oh we’re sorry it’s not her, it’s room next door”. So patient next door was NOT receiving isolation protocols who tested positive for the flu. 36 hrs later mom had 102 fever and tested positive. That evening she was unresponsive and stayed that way. She always said she did not want to die in a place like this, yet up to this point was still showing PT that she could do these exercises. Within 24 hrs Hospice of Northwest Ohio had come in and evaluated, made transport arrangements and she was back in her home where she passed within 2 days. Primary cause of death- FLU. We miss you mom💔

My wife was injured and was admitted to Kingston. She was taken care of as part of a family. All the nurses and other staff went to great measures to make sure she had everything needed to be comfortable. Especially the staff on the third floor. If you or your family need physical care and therapy Kingston of Perrysburg is a choice you won't regret.

We had such high hopes when chose Kingston Perrysburg for our 91 year old Mother when she was transferred there after spending a week in the hospital, after a fall that caused 2 fractures in her back. I understand she was there for rehab, but being so weak she was pushed much harder than we thought she should be, for someone with a broken back. Mom had a hard time getting anyone to bring her a simple cup of ice, when none of us could be there to help or advocate for her. Sadly it was that time of year for the flu which quickly spread throughout the facility and poor Mom got that too. Personally, I don't believe one should need to worry about getting sick(er) going to a health facility. One day poor Mom had an accident in her bed and no one came for hours to clean her up, even after Mom called for them. It ended with my sister cleaning Mom up and asking for sheets etc. then those sheets sat in Mom's room for over 24 hours. This is unacceptable. The staff was always nice but understaffed I am sure. We can do better in this country. Our poor elders deserve so much better.
