About The Lakes of Sylvania

The Lakes of Sylvania is a skilled nursing and long-term care community in Sylvania, Ohio, licensed for 62 residents. It offers rehabilitation services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with respite and hospice care options.

Family reviews reflect a divided experience. Families consistently praise the facility's cleanliness, the warmth and attentiveness of staff across all departments, and the quality of meals and therapy services. One family noted that "every employee, no matter their job title, came out and helped deliver meals." Several families described feeling confident their loved ones received compassionate, dignified care. However, other reviews report serious concerns: long wait times for call bells (45 minutes to an hour), insufficient staffing ratios (one nursing assistant for 15 patients), delayed medical attention, and gaps in personal care such as showering and hygiene. A few reviews also mention maintenance issues and service inconsistencies.

The community holds a 4.2 out of 5 rating based on 42 Google reviews. The stark contrast between highly satisfied and deeply frustrated families suggests variable quality depending on timing, department, or specific circumstances.

My grandmother spent her last few weeks here and it was such a blessing. The staff were wonderful. It felt like we were visiting her at a 5 star hotel. The family was able to purchase meals and eat with her and the food was delicious. We noticed something else that we could not believe. Every meal every employee no matter their job title, came out and helped deliver meals to the residents that were in their rooms.
