For sixty eight years I've been blessed to be healthy. A second back surgery with a set back had me at Jerome Home for thirteen days. The entire stay each staff member was empathetic, professional and motivating to my recovery and release. I'm missing some names but here's what I recall of a worthy staff: Paula, Amber, Amber's best friend, Olivia, Natasha, Daisy, Amanda, Natalia, Tammy, Bridget, Ariel, Jennifer, Tanisha, Maribel. Thank you so much for making my stay a good one. I'd recommend Jerome Home to anyone looking for staff that cares about their dignity, comfort and wellness. Sincerely, Paul Pellegrini

I don't have enough positive words to say about the care my mother recieved from the staff at Jerome Home. She started at the Atwood side and when her health deteriorated she was moved to 2E assisted living. She was there until this morning when she passed away after being on Hartford Hospice. The RNs, social worker Carmel, and CNAs are phenomenal in their care and compassion. I would like to especially thank RNs Annette and Amanda and Carmel MSW. You have forever touched my life and I am so grateful to you all for the care you provided to my mom. I know she was more than a handful so thank you for your patience and understanding. I recommend Jerome Home 100%.

I stayed at Jerome Home for two weeks of rehab following major surgery starting the day after I left the hospital, three days after surgery. I arrived by ambulance, very weak; and left much stronger. I had very good care. The people there were very nice; the nurses knowledgeable and responsive.There were a few hitches, because I had the wrong sort of apnea machine for a week and a half; and they could not understand why my blood oxygen level was low until I realized the machine was not the right kind and told them, ,but they fixed it. I also was confused about the kinds of medication and when I could ask for it; I had to call my surgeon's office for help; I just felt like a coward for asking sometimes. There was also some trouble with the office and the billing; I had Blue Cross, but not the particular plan they were trying to submit to. I had everything pre-approved and pre-planned before the surgery, but they could not get their head around it and kept denying. It took a lot of phone calls from my family between the Insurance and Jerome Home Office to convince them, and it was hard because the offices were closed for the weekend when I was being discharged. The busy, excellent ,discharge nurse , (C. ) however, straightened it all out in time for my discharge. The CNAs were amazing and were the ones I relied on hour by hour. They are the absolute backbone of care there. When I could barely stand and use the facilities and needed help with all my care, they were expert, and they always were so positive and caring. I didn't feel embarrassed , they were so professional and they always helped with all that I needed or wanted so nicely.and In the dead of night when I woke from pain, they called the nurse and sometimes they snuck me a cup of tea. So compassionate! I hope that I am not leaving anyone out, but I especially cite Keira, above all , with helping me recover well.. Amber, Kay, Angela, Lucy, all stellar CNAs. They work hard, and it is a shame that they seem sometimes short staffed; although care never faltered. Jerome Home should look to increasing the pay rate of these women and men; it's a shame that some leave due to a small increase per hour somewhere else, or a better staffed place. Also excellent is the Occupational and Physical Therapy staff here; Brittany, Beata, Marta, and Dr Mike. I could scarcely walk a few steps when I came, leaning on a walker, and felt so much pain and discouragement at ever being able to walk down a hall; but they taught me how to move to protect my spine and give me the best start in healing. They are amazing; the exercises helped me to be stronger and able to do much more by the time I left. When It was time for me to leave and then to start outpatient Physical Therapy, even though it is in a neighboring town, I chose to return here, so confident I was in Dr Mike's education and experience; and his care for seniors.

They failed to put a gate belt on my father, after his brother told them not to move him without the belt. The aide said ”don’t tell me how to do my job”. 5 minutes later my father fell. His leg broke in two places. No gate belt was on and she could not stop the fall. She ran yelling down the hall for help while my father was lying in pain on the floor. At 90 years old, without being able to move and exercise, he died within 6 months. His pain and suffering was terrible for him and our family to watch. This place is a disgrace to rehab healthcare. They basically shortened my father’s life. Never ever called to apologize or check in to see how he was making out. They don’t care!!! Find some place else if you really care about your loved family member.

If zero was an option for a star, they would get a big fat zero. My mother had a horrible experience in the rehab. She was not able to walk. They left her for 5 to 7 hours without having her changed and they never moved her from her bed to her wheelchair in the allotted amount of time to get the pressure off her bottom. There is minimal amount of staff here very unresponsive and I’m not happy at all with the management here I would not recommend this place at all.
