About Hooverwood Living

Hooverwood Living is a senior living community in Indianapolis with a history dating back over a century, originally established as the Jewish Shelter House in 1902 and later as the Borinstein Home in 1938. While rooted in its heritage as a Jewish nursing home, it has always provided for the spiritual well-being of all residents.

The community offers a range of care levels, from supplemental assistance to round-the-clock care and supervision. Assisted living is provided at Kraft Commons, where residents receive personalized care, form genuine friendships, and enjoy amenities in a home-like setting. For those needing closer medical attention, skilled nursing services offer 24-hour care for short-term or long-term residents.

Hooverwood Living also provides memory care focused on enriching the lives of individuals with Alzheimer's and other dementias through innovative treatment and individualized care, as well as hospice care aimed at preserving dignity for those nearing the end of life. Adult day services are available as well.

Rehabilitation is a core part of the community's offerings, with occupational, physical, and speech therapy designed to help seniors retrain, regain, and maintain mobility and cognition. Wellness programs, exercise, and enrichment activities support residents' overall well-being and recovery.

Residents are encouraged to spend time socializing with friends, sharing meals, and participating in enrichment activities within living spaces designed to feel like home. The Hooverwood Guild, a volunteer group, organizes events and fundraises for essential needs, contributing to a sense of community and support for both residents and staff.

Jim had great care there. Roz, Jessice, Tammy, Jaime, and Kirnan all were great. Pat the Caseworker is beyond wonderful and helpful and called the day after his discharge to check on how he and I were doing. They were all very personal and caring with him.
