Ashley went above and beyond with my mother in law. She resided at St. Joseph Tower in Omaha and recently was put on with Gentiva Hospice. I was under the impression she could live the rest of her life at the tower as long as she had the care hospice could provide but I soon found out that was not the case. The tower could no longer provide the safety my mother in law needed due to her dementia. I was given one day notice (the day before a holiday) from the tower to put her into long term care. My husband and I were beside ourselves. We had only visited one other long term facility and were left undecided after that visit. After a quick visit at Hillcrest, Ashley worked miracles for our family helping to cancel one hospice contract and get her admitted on the hospice they contract with. They made the transition seamless. Saying THANK YOU doesn't seem like enough.

Do not bring your loved one here. They will slowly kill them and you won’t know if you don’t ask because thy don’t care. Her linen had been dirty for at least 3 days before I said something. I sat with my mother in hospice for almost an hour and the no one came to check on her. She needed more care than they could ever care to give her. Her call light was on the floor at the foot of her bed. They are understaffed and over booked it seems. I am leaving this review because I am taking my mother out today.

In short, RUN. There aren't enough ways I could recommend against this facility. It is not clean, bathroom accidents on the floor are left (4 weeks) and carpet isn't cleaned. Staff is unprofessional and disrespectful. Facility is sad, unhappy and dark. This is NOT the place to bring your family. My aunt shared her concerns with the staff and they dismissed her. We held a meeting with the leadership team where her concerns were shared and again, they made half-hearted agreements and failed to follow through ON ANYTHING. This facility is a disgrace to Papillion and needs to be shut down. In the two months my aunt was there, she lost significant weight, lost a lot of hair and deteriorated significantly. Once removed and placed in a far, far, far better facility, she has started to rebound significantly. Here are the things you can plan on if your family member is placed there: - Left in wheelchairs while watching television. - Left to be slumped over while sleeping in chairs. - Constant watching of cartoons and not age appropriate materials if in the Alzheimers (Memory Lane) area. - Loud, screaming and crying individuals begging for help in numerous places in the facility. - Lack of professionalism. Director of Nursing is quick to be extremely unkind and disrespectful to family members. Medication professionals have attitudes which seems to reflect the leadership of the group. This includes punishing residents until their "attitudes are better." (THEY SAID THIS TO MY AUNT WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE.) - Lack of cleanliness, food safety protocol, etc. I wish there was one thing that I was embellishing about. However, I have recordings, pictures and proof of all situations. I frequently think of the residents there and pray something happens to help them all.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I sure would! My mother has repeatedly fallen while under their care and it took me and her POA getting upset with the staff before they would x-ray her to make sure nothing was broken, although for TWO days she cried in pain!!! Furthermore, her grandson is on military leave to visit with his dying grandmother and they are so generous with giving him a 20 MINUTE visit after he drives 14 hours!! 20 MINUTES!!!!! Are you kidding me right now?!?! Kevin, the Administrator, is not even willing to make an accommodation!!! These people are cruel and heartless!!! Her grandson is Military and has been vaccinated and yet, because Hillcrest Shadow Lake staff doesn’t want to come to work because of Covid they won’t allow for family to spend reasonable time with loved ones who are trapped in this horrible place!!! Get real!! These are people, not things!!! Human contact with their FAMILY is more vital to their well-being than the incompetent staff!!!
