What Families Think

Reviews of this Bellevue skilled nursing facility are sharply divided: many families praise the physical, occupational and speech therapy teams and individual nurses and aides by name, while a large number of reports describe serious lapses in basic care, hygiene, and staffing. With a 3.2 average across 107 reviews, the pattern suggests inconsistent care quality depending on shift, staffing levels, and unit.

The Good

 • Several named nurses and aides singled out as caring
 • Large in-house rehab gym for recovery
 • Secure memory care neighborhoods with gardens and daily programming
 • Some reviewers report responsive, attentive care and clean rooms

The Bad

 • Many reports of call buttons unanswered for 15-30+ minutes
 • Multiple accounts of late or missed meals, sometimes hours delayed

 • Multiple reports of understaffing, especially on weekends and nights
 • Several reports of unclean rooms, soiled linens, or neglected hygiene
 • One detailed report of billing/refund delays taking months

About Hillcrest Health & Rehab

Hillcrest Health & Rehab is a skilled nursing facility located at 1702 Hillcrest Drive in Bellevue, Nebraska, described as the only skilled nursing facility in the city. It is part of the Hillcrest Health & Living network, which provides recovery and senior care services across the Omaha metro area.

The center specializes in short-term rehabilitation for seniors recovering from illness, injury or surgery, including joint replacement, cardiac events or stroke. Guests stay in private or companion suites and have access to a large rehab gym with nearly 10,000 square feet of equipment and exercise space. Physical, occupational and speech therapy are provided by an in-house clinical team rather than contracted providers, and care plans are developed by nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists and social workers. The community partners with Hillcrest Home Care and Innovate Physical Therapy, which offers outpatient therapy on campus, to support smooth transitions and reduce rehospitalizations.

Long-term care is offered in the secure Magnolia Terrace and Magnolia Circle neighborhoods, which feature a tranquil indoor garden, aviary, aquarium, family-style dining and daily programming. Residents needing ongoing care receive 24-hour support in a structured, dignified environment.

Amenities include furnished lounges, a retro 50s-style family room, an outdoor courtyard with a playground, and a chapel. Dining is a notable feature, with meals made to order by an executive chef served in dining rooms or in-room, and the on-site 1702 Bistro offering sandwiches, salads and other casual fare with indoor and outdoor seating.

Hillcrest Health & Rehab accepts Medicare and most private insurance plans for rehabilitation services, and shares an electronic health record system across the Hillcrest Health & Living network to support coordinated care.

DANGEROUS. In the week my grandmother spent there, not once was she scheduled for a shower or had bedding or towels changed. There was week old blood on her sheets and the nurse just threw a blanket over it. Meals and medications were hours late everyday, (due to short staffing maybe) and when nurses were called (with a call button that was literally from '98) they told her that they had already been there, which they hadn't, and blamed her memory, then they did the same thing with her discharge papers and her prescriptions. To top it all off, during a visit the fire alarm went off four times over the course of 3 hours, which they kept dismissing until the fire department finally found an electrical fire burning in the walls hours later. I am never ever sending any of my loved ones here again, not until that company updates its technology, basic needs, and staff.

This place was pure torture to be in. First of all…the food! Many dishes foreign to my palate and so salty it was often inedible! In all fairness some dishes were very good but unavailable for seconds. Snacks were not available…hard to be hungry stour paying hundreds of dollars for a room. A few and far between floor help were available and it took an act of congress to get a nurse in a timely manner! I was treated with kindness by most of the staff and the ancillary staff were great bút time with them very limited. I must mention that during my six day/night stay dispensing of ordered/schedule left much to be desired!
I’m 82 and had a 35 year career in nursing…I would make a major overhaul with this place big time! When dirty linen is left on the floor from shift to sh, and food is served thàt is often inedible, and waiting over an hour to speak to a nurse and being left alone for long periods of time…in my estimation are ALL totally unacceptable! Yes, I made a formal complaint and had the Administrator in my room tò voice my concerns!
It goes without saying…I do not recommend being a patient here for anyone…EVER!

So far, I have been very impressed with Bellevue Hillcrest Rehab. This location was highly recommended and I can see why. So far, my father has reported being treated with great care from staff when I am not with him. When I am with him and he needs help, they have responded in 3 minutes or less. I had one concern that I voiced and it was IMMEDIATELY addressed to be corrected. Father has been there two weeks and so far, this has been top notch service and world class care.
