A Heartfelt Thank You to the Commonwealth Devonshire Memory Care Team<br>My mother moved into Commonwealth Devonshire Memory Care in February 2026. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. As her daughter, I carried so many emotions—fear, uncertainty, sadness, and concern about whether I was making the right choice for her.<br>From my very first phone call with CeeJay, I knew that my mother and I were in caring hands. Through my subsequent visits, countless questions, and willingness to walk me through every step of the process, CeeJay helped make what could have been an overwhelming transition feel seamless. She not only supported me through the process but also showed a genuine concern for both my mother’s well-being and my own.<br>Once Mom moved in, the adjustment was difficult for both of us. However, the staff welcomed my mother—and me—with open arms and helped us become comfortable in her new surroundings. Over the next several months, the staff began to feel less like caregivers and more like family. I truly felt that Mom and I had become part of their family.<br>The care, patience, compassion, & attention given to my mother were exceptional. Whenever I had a concern, I could reach out to Queen’ee, Felina, or Sade, and they always reassured me that my concerns would be heard & addressed. Their willingness to listen and respond gave me comfort during some very difficult moments.<br>I would like to give a very special thank-you to Fredrina, Erika, Chris, Amanda, Jennifer, Najhere, Zhanya, Labria, Elekus,Shay, Chaquita & Valerie for the daily care they provided to my mother. There were many days when Mom did not want to take her medications or eat, but they never gave up on her. They patiently encouraged her, tried different approaches, & continued to meet her where she was. Their patience, persistence, & genuine care were evident every day. They worked tirelessly to ensure that my mother’s needs were met and that she was treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.<br>I would also like to thank DeVonne and Christina who made sure my mother was included in the Sweet Memories activities. DeVonne created meaningful moments that brought comfort, enlightenment, and reassurance to both my mother and me. Those moments became especially precious during the later stages of Mom’s journey.<br>I would also like to thank Deana and Rebecca for working with my mom to get her stronger with physical therapy. The techniques and diligence were unwavering.<br><br>A special thank-you to Sandy, Pearl and Amanda for always welcoming me into the facility with such kindness—even when I came multiple times a day. Their warmth made me feel like I belonged there and reassured me that Mom was truly part of a community that cared about her.<br>I am also grateful to the dining team for making sure my mother received the menu items she enjoyed and for paying attention to her individual needs. And thank you to Carmen for always making sure my mother’s room was kept clean, comfortable, and in tip-top condition.<br>As my mother’s health began to decline and she entered hospice care, Fredrina and Erika continued to provide unwavering support, encouragement, and comfort to both my mother and me. They consistently checked on us to make sure we were okay. When my mother passed, their compassion and support never wavered. During one of the most painful times of my life, their kindness meant more than words can express.<br>There simply are not enough words to express my appreciation for everyone who played a part in caring for my mother during the final chapter of her life. This was a difficult journey, but the compassion, patience, love, and support we received made it a little easier to bear.<br>Although my mother’s journey has come to an end, I leave Commonwealth Devonshire with something I never expected to gain: a new family. I will forever be grateful to the people who loved, cared for, supported, and embraced my mother—and who also embraced me. Thank you for giving us both a place where we felt loved, supported, and cared for during the final months of her life.
