Brookdale University Park - What a beautiful campus! I was warmly greeted by the staff upon arrival and given a personalized tour. I was delighted by what I saw! The interactions between staff and residents were heartwarming, and there was a incredible aroma from the dining room. My wife and I enjoyed an amazing meal (the vegetable-beef stew was wonderful)! Before leaving, I stopped by the Brookdale Bistro for a cup of coffee. Overall great experience! I would certainly recommend Brookdale University Park to anyone looking for senior living care and services.

We are extremely disappointed with our experience at Brookdale regarding the handling of my grandmother’s move-in. During the move-in process, we worked directly with Sheila, who verbally promised a move-in discount of one month free rent. We explicitly reviewed and confirmed these terms with her before proceeding.

Despite this clear agreement, we were charged the full amount with no discount applied. When we raised the issue, there was no accountability for the mistake and no straightforward resolution offered. Trusting a staff member’s word on pricing should not lead to a billing dispute, especially for a family making a difficult transition for an elderly loved one.

This kind of miscommunication and lack of follow-through is unacceptable for a company entrusted with senior care and finances. We expected professionalism and transparency, and instead had to fight to get what was promised to us in writing after the fact. I’d strongly caution other families to get every discount and promise in writing before signing anything with this location.

My mom was transferred to Brookdale from Brookwood Hospital for rehab after a serious wreck. She had to wear a back brace to do her rehab due to compression fractures. The rehab staff did not know how to put the back brace on, and would barely try to do it. Then, they would say her time was used up because they took so long with the brace, or at best, they gave her 15-20 minutes therapy. During the time she was there, she got pneumonia and a UTI. This caused her (age 95) to go downhill, and we had to put her on hospice. She was told by one staff member NOT to push her call button. Most of the staff, not all, seemed miserable at their jobs and would come in with their hands on their hips and would say,”What do you want”. We were extremely disappointed in the management, and they did not follow through to help with problems. We paid $14,000 per month after Medicare stopped paying, and we did not get our moneys worth. After three months, we moved my mom to another facility which costs half as much, and the staff is warm and loving, and take much better care of my mom. I would not recommend Brookdale to anyone who loves their family member.

Brookdale Senior Living is a complete joke. My Aunt recently moved her mom out and all I can say is THANK GOODNESS! The caregivers are lazy and rudy, the nurses do alot of talking with no results, the so called Director over the place is clueless and doesn't know if she's coming or going. She's like a mannequin holding a license. Anytime you email or call, no one returns calls or its a week later and on top of that there's always something broke, dirty, leaking or smelly in that place. I'm so happy my Aunt found somewhere for her mom that truly cares.
