The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence is a memory care community in Louisville, Kentucky, dedicated to serving residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Located at 4711 South Hurstbourne Parkway, the community serves the Hurstbourne, Fern Creek, Middletown, and Jeffersontown areas of Jefferson County.
The community operates as a single-story, home-like setting with licensed nurses on campus around the clock. Staff are trained in the Best Friends approach, which honors each resident's life story, and the Teepa Snow Positive Approach to Care, a skill-based dementia training program. The community specializes in caring for residents in early to moderately severe stages of Alzheimer's, focusing on individual interests, life experiences, and personal strengths to provide personalized support.
Daily programming includes the Meaningful Day program, restaurant-style dining prepared by the culinary team using local farm-fresh food, intergenerational programming with local schools and colleges, exercise programs, activities, entertainment, and group outings. The community accommodates no-salt-added and reduced-concentrated-sweets diets. Personal care services include grooming assistance, bathing, and getting dressed, along with licensed nurse oversight of health, wellness, and medication management.
Residents live in open studio memory care apartments with spacious designs chosen for convenience and safety. Paint colors are selected to promote peace and calm, and residents can personalize their private apartments with personal touches. Each resident receives a 24-hour emergency pendant for safety monitoring.
The Lantern is part of a combined campus with Morning Pointe of Louisville, an adjacent assisted living community. Morning Pointe Senior Living, founded in 1997 and locally led, manages and operates more than 40 assisted living and memory care communities across the Southeast.
