My husband and I moved from a house of 50 years in a beautiful rural area of NJ. While we had family near the Jefferson (J), we were nervous about moving to a condominium setting. Our fears were groundless. We loved it from day 1. The people here in independent living are interesting, warm and welcoming; the building is comfortable; the staff go out of their way to be helpful; and the J is pet-friendly. The J provides bus transport to museums, plays, and concerts, and the concierge is most helpful getting tickets when needed. There are many events, exercise classes, language groups, in-house concerts, art classes, interest groups, and more. It is hard to be bored. The area is also wonderful: close to the metro, close to beautiful parks, and Arlington is great about keeping this high-rise area green and beautiful. I have used the physical therapy here and it was more than satisfactory. What more could we ask for in an independent living setting?

The Jefferson is Arlington's best kept secret. I would and have recommended the community to my senior friends and family. Our fellow residents are kind, interesting, and wonderful neighbors. The activities are plentiful generous and tons of fun. Food is delicious and nutritious. We feel like we're on a cruise every day.

The Jefferson Ballston I’ve lived in the Jefferson Senior Living community for several years. One thing I like is that the 2-tower Jefferson, in addition to 200 Independent Living condos, also has an Assisted Living, a Skilled Nursing and a Reminiscence community so if I should ever need these facilities they are right here. This is especially important for couples: should one of them need care, the other is only an elevator ride away for visits. The Jefferson is truly a luxury facility, with beautiful common areas, an elegant dining room, a craft room, library, game rooms, a ladies Salon & barbershop, a gym, swimming pool and private parking spots. Residents say it’s like living on a cruise ship with included delicious, nourishing meals, numerous in house activities like games, films, art and crafting classes, lectures, evening concerts, wine and cheese receptions, a weekly conversational gathering for women and a complementary one for men, and much more. We also have free transportation trips to museums, plays, concerts, shopping, events, and to our nearby doctors and hospital. We have two nearby parks, numerous restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, a Target store, and the Ballston Metro gateway to all of Washington, all within short walks. Most important to me is how welcoming the Jefferson and its residents are. We love new residents and enjoy seeing them quickly make new friends and enjoy sharing stories and experiences with people just like them.

We have been condo owners in Independent Living at The Jefferson for over 2 years and are very happy here. The location is wonderful — a block from the Metro and walking distance from many good restaurants, the drugstore, grocery stores and more. The staff are warm and helpful, and there is an abundance of events and activities generated by residents as well as offered by The Jefferson. It’s a great choice for an active life in a supportive environment.
