My dad lived at Suite Living Spring Lake Park for just over 2 months. It was far and away the best facility he lived in. The staff truly cares about the residents. He was on the memory care side and the staff to resident ratio was incredible. He always had the help that he needed. The food always looked good and the facility was generally clean. In his final few days, the compassion displayed through the days and nights helped to carry us through. They made what was an incredibly tough time a bit easier.

4/5/24
We had two care meetings with Sarah regarding concern’s of daily basic care. No changes resulted and we questioned dad’s care plan wondering if the aides knew what was expected more than once.

Sarah was in the room intermittently while dad was dying and she made us aware of the situation with the aides confusing the meds. She fired one and reprimanded another for this grave mistake.

We really liked the Hospice team, they genuinely cared about dad and our family.

4/2/24
Our dad was at this facility for about five weeks and then passed away. He was in assisted living and on hospice when entering. Promises were made that daily hygiene would be done by the aides, washing face, shaving, brushing teeth and cleaning partials but these tasks seldom happened. They also weren't timely in getting him to the toilet, so he usually had soiled Depends and cleaning his bottom was not done thoroughly. The aides don't have much supervision or training by the head nurse to make sure to follow the care plan of each resident. Not once did the head nurse ever come into dad's room to check on him while the family was visiting, and we were there at least four days a week.

The hospice team was very good, and we felt that they all got to know our dad and helped him while residing there. However, we were told by the hospice manager that the aides were not authorized to give narcotics to residents, but this was not true. When dad was reaching end of life stage, he was given hospice meds only, Morphine, Lorazepam and Hyoscyamine sulphate. During his final days the aides were administering one medication but wrongfully charting it as a different medication. Due to poor charting and administration of the drugs, their supply ran out. The hospice doctor was the only one that could approve refills, which took about 20 hours! There was no backup doctor assigned when the hospice doctor was unavailable which is highly unacceptable. Dad was moaning and flailing because his body was shutting down and he was not getting correct meds and eventually no meds.

Also, dad's air mattress was deflated and the pump was unplugged so he was laying on bed springs for many hours until one of us realized it.

We do not recommend this facility to anyone that needs daily care other than meals and activities.
