My husband was in Somerford for hospice services in July and died before the end of the month. The administrative staff is incompetent. After he died and we removed his things and turned in the key, not only did they not refund the money prepaid to the end of the month, they took over $7,000 out of my account the next month and only managed a partial refund! I posted the original of this review more than 2 months ago. In her response, the Executive Director promised to go over everything with me. I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ANYTHING FROM HER! She has ignored an inquiry from my attorney and the Better Business Bureau. This month I am filing suit. Find someplace else if you can't afford to lose money.

A heartfelt thank you to Somerford — a good facility with heart!!!<br><br>Moving my mom into an assisted living home was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make. At first, I struggled with the idea of her not being at home, and I didn’t feel entirely comfortable. But now, two years later, my perspective has changed—and for the better.<br><br>Somerford has proven to be the best facility, with some standout strengths that truly make a difference. While no facility is without its challenges, what stands out about Somerford is the staff’s commitment to doing their best and their willingness to go the extra mile for residents. The team is dedicated, compassionate, and capable. Knowing that my mom is in their care gives me peace of mind that I didn’t have in the beginning. They manage her medical, personal needs, and overall well/being with professionalism, compassion, and kindness.<br><br>One of the biggest highlights is their phenomenal Activities Program. It’s far beyond your standard arts and crafts. The staff go above and beyond with themed events like the unforgettable Water Day, live concerts, STEM for Seniors, and special outings—including a visit to the White House and Motown Christmas at the Weinberg. Who does that? It’s truly impressive and shows how much they care about keeping residents active, engaged, and joyful.<br><br>I want to sincerely thank everyone who has helped my mom feel comfortable enough to consider Somerford her new home. From the friendly and competent front desk staff to the hardworking caregivers, pharmacy techs, nurses, dining team, the onsite hair salon and doctor visits, transportation, housekeeping, and maintenance crew, and all the behind-the-scenes staff—it’s your effort that makes Somerford a great place for our loved ones.<br><br>Thank you for giving me the reassurance I never thought I’d have when we first made this move.

MY MOM HAS DEMENTIA AND IS AN ACTIVE 95 years young. I COULD NOT IMAGINE HER LIVING ANYWHERE ELSE THAN AT SOMERFORD HOUSE FREDERICK.<br>MY MOM’S LIFE JOURNEY HAS BEEN IMPROVED BY THE CARE SHE IS RECEIVING 24-7 IN ASSISTED LIVING.<br><br>SHE LIVED THIRTY YEARS IN HER FORMER APARTMENT AND SHE DID NOT PLAN ON EVER LEAVING THERE. UNFORTUNATELY, LIFE IS NOT PERFECT WHEN YOU ARE 94 years OLD AND DEMENTIA TAKES HOLD OF YOUR MEMORY.<br><br>SHE LOVES THE HAIR SHAMPOO, SET & STYLE EVERY WEEK FROM LAURA. ALSO NURSE MARY AND ALL THE NURSES GIVE HER SUCH SPECIAL ATTENTION AS IF SHE WAS THEIR OWN GRANDMA. DR. SHAH COMES TO HER ON SITE WHEN SHE HAS LEG ISSUES, ETC.<br><br>BREAKFAST LUNCH AND DINNER IS HER FAVORITE TIME ALSO. SOMETIMES THE CARING STAFF CATER TO HER IF SHE IS NOT ABLE TO GO DOWN TO THE DINNING ROOM BY BRINGING HER MEAL TO HER ROOM.<br><br>AFTER HER WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN EIGHT MONTHS AGO SOMERFORD AT FREDERICK HELPED MY MOM TO START LIVING AGAIN DAY AFTER DAY. ITS ALMOST LIKE A WISH COME TRUE FOR THIS ONE ONLY DAUGHTER OF DOTTIE B.

My mother was at Somerford House a little over 9 months before passing. My family said it was the best decision ever made on behalf of my mother. The staff was attentive, professional and caring. I visited every day and I witnessed many lovely moments, from housekeeping, dining, caregivers, administrators, social, transportation, maintenance and nurses. They are definitely a team. My mother had daily visits from the staff to chat and check in. They made a point to know my mother needs, not only medical, but they know her as a person.The staff made my mother feel like a million bucks and they treated her with kindness and respect.<br>Somerford House is the best home away from home.
