Solstice is a home away from home. Other retirement facilities in Columbia cost more and perhaps offer more but they are institutions. Solstice has heart and soul because of MGMT. All staff know their clients usually by name and it sounds like old time neighbors greeting each other. The family first environment is supported by its phenomenal mgmt staff of Tawanda Edwards, ED; Moe Jordan, Biz Off Mgr and Trina Almond Hall. These three ladies are responsible for the high positivity, the light hearted camaraderie and the general good nature of the facility. My mother was forced to move to a different facility because of an inept unempathetic family member. She never stopped talking about her happy social life at Solstice. She lived two beneficial years there and only lasted six months at the second facility. It was so huge she didn't get to know anyone as well as she had at Solstice. We are indebted to Tawanda, Moe and Trina for making her last years so delightful.

I wish there was a 0 star review.
This place is NOT what they make you think they are on your initial tour!
When we first looked at this facility for my 94 year old grandmother, it looked so nice.
Remember the saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover.”
It was written for Solstice!!!
We were impressed at the cleanliness and no smell.
That changed QUICKLY!!!!
Every single time we entered the building, upon approaching the elevator the entire first floor smelled like a litter box! It’s absolutely disgusting!!!!!
My Grandmother was on the third floor and next to the laundry room.
Someone had bled all over the laundry room floor and it was not mopped for MONTHS! Not days…. MONTHS!!!!!
My grandmother fell in her apartment and spilled milk all over her floor.
Another elderly resident came into her room and went to the company that works inside Solstice for help.
One of the employees came to my grandmother’s apartment, told her she doesn’t pay for their services and left.
She left a 94 year old in the floor!
The elderly resident got another elderly resident and they got my grandmother out of the floor themselves.
My husband and I got there that same evening and the milk was still all over the place!
When my husband questioned the company that left her in the floor and left the milk for another potential fall, they gave him the same response they gave my grandmother and brought us a price list.
We had already fired that company after giving them more than one chance to give my grandmother her daily meds that we paid for and they were not giving!
We certainly weren’t going to hire them again!
My grandmother got very sick in March of 2026.
She was placed on Hospice and we were instructed that she needed to be in a nursing home immediately.
We had been placed on a waitlist and one room became available.
We had to take it.
We had paid the full month of March but needed to move my grandmother to the nursing home before we lost the room there.
We moved her March 19th which is almost 2 weeks before the end of the month that had already been paid.
Solstice was showing my Grandmothers apartment to future residents before we even had her things out so I’m sure the rented it and got someone else’s money also.
My Grandmother died shortly after the move. She was terminal and needed 24/7 MEDICAL care not a company that gets paid to do nothing and are not medical professionals.
We received a call from them wanting us to pay 1500.00 for 2 weeks of April that we weren’t there because we didn’t give a 30 day notice.
We notified them immediately upon getting word that we had a but sing home room available.
This wasn’t just a choice it was a medical necessity for the safety of my thermally ill grandmother!
We told them on the phone that she is dying (more than once) and not one single time did we even get an “I’m so sorry!” Nothing but wanting money!!!!!
Now solstice has increased what they want us to pay them to 1800.00 for not giving a full 30 day notice of moving her.
They’re going to report us to collections if we don’t pay for the first 2 weeks of April!
We DO NOT skip out on paying what we owe people… EVER!
This place is inhumane!
This place is NOT about residents and people, they are about dollars!!!!!
They don’t care about lives, they care about money!
I would absolutely not place anyone love and care about in this facility!!!!

It is not clean. The food is poor to okay. Services promised like weekly apartment cleaning rarely are acceptable. We were there a year. Personal care is nonexistent.
