The Physical Therapy that I received at Signature Health Care Muncie was outstanding. When I arrived after knee surgery, I couldn’t stand up at the edge of the bed or walk at all. After my last session with Addy, I felt confident that I could go home walking with a walker or cane. Addy was caring and encouraging, and her skillfulness resulted in her prescribing just the right moves each day to help me walk better. The therapists coordinated beautifully with the highly skilled nursing staff and aides. My experience was very good.

My experience here was unacceptable. April was unprofessional and hostile, and I was yelled at over minor issues like a name tag. I have asthma and autism, both disabilities. My work performance was not the problem there were no complaints, and residents even praised my bedside manner. Despite that, I was told not to return with no clear justification. Based on how I was treated, I believe my disabilities were a factor in that decision. As a Black woman with disabilities, that is extremely concerning. What concerns me even more is the environment this creates in a care setting. I was in a position where I could leave and speak up for myself. Residents don’t have that option. People living there especially those with dementia or other cognitive conditions depend completely on staff for dignity, patience, and respectful care. That’s what makes this situation so troubling.
