Update:
WOW! Another great success for Pomeroy Living Rochester Independent.
On September 7th, 2025, a celebration for Grandparents Day was hosted for all the residents and their grandchildren. Last year was a great success, but this year was absolutely, even more than anyone could imagine. Staring with great food for everyone, including hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken, baked beans, potato chips, strawberry shortcake and beverages of choice all prepared by the chef, his staff and many waiters who served the residents and guests.
Any who attended were also treated to a face painting artist, balloon artist (Silly Me the Clown,) a petting zoo, plus pony rides for the children. Even Papa had his face painted. There were also giftbags and if you found a marked sucker, you could win a small toy for the kiddies. If that wasn’t enough, some played ladder ball or plastic axe throwing. Anyone who was interested also had some homemade cotton candy. It was a great day thanks to the Activities Director, Julie and Scharolette, her assistant, and the entire staff who participated in organizing and making this celebration happen. Another star to add to the quality of life here at Pomeroy Living Rochester Independent. We had an incredibly positive experience here with my grandmother. I've had family in a lot of other places, and would definitely chose this one again!
Our mom has been at Pomeroy Independent Living for about 2.5 years now, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. The staff are truly wonderful. They really seem to know and care about each resident, and that personal connection means a lot to our mom (and to us).

There are tons of activities! At 85, our mom picks what she can manage — things like sit & stretch, movie nights, crossword groups, and weekend visits with emotional support dogs are among her favorites. Pomeroy is always planning something, from themed parties to speakers, music, and outings. There’s really something for everyone whether you are super active or just want to socialize a bit.

The community aspect has been one of the best parts for our mom. She’s made some truly great friends, and it’s been so heartwarming to see her so socially connected and happy.

The building is always clean and well-kept, and we feel good knowing she’s in a safe, secure and supportive environment. It also gives us peace of mind that the staff are responsive and keep in touch when needed.

The food’s okay — not amazing, but definitely decent, and we know they’re working to make improvements, which we appreciate.

Overall, Pomeroy has been a really positive place for our mom. We’re grateful for the community she’s found there and the kindness she’s surrounded by every day.
I've been here just under a month's time. The residents are friendly, the food choices are acceptable, public space is clean, and the staff is incredibly helpful and cooperative.

Update: I've been here at Pomeroy about ten months now with thankfulness and admiration of my neighbors, friends, and acquaintances. I have yet to meet some who doesn't have an interesting story to tell citing stories and adventures they and their families have experienced. There is a wonderful spirit of acceptance, care, and listening. No grumpy souls here unless they've misplaced their room key!
We toured the independent living building at Pomeroy in Rochester Hills and found it to be very well maintained and updated. Multiple residents told us how much they enjoy living there. The leasing director, Maggie, is kind and gracious with her time, answering all of our questions and providing valuable information as to the levels of living and care offered.
