No one looks forward to the day when they’ll have to place a loved one in assisted living. It’s so very hard to do and so many thoughts go through your mind. How will they be treated? What kind of care will they receive? How clean are the rooms as well as the facility as a whole? Does the place smell, once you walk past the front lobby and finally, will my loved one be safe and happy, or at the very least content, at living there? Here’s the truth as to what I have found out after bringing my elderly Uncle here to live. 1) EJ, her title is Director of Sales & Marketing. In reality, my experience with her is that of a person who really listens to one’s concerns and questions in regards to potentially having their loved one moved into assisted living. She made the whole experience comforting and when I left, I knew I made the right decision. 2) The facility is immaculately clean and without odor, not just in the front lobby area, but throughout every part of the building. 3) Brittney, the Wellness Nurse & Debbie the Head Nurse are fantastic with their personal attention, to medical needs of the new resident and communication with the family. The integration of prescriptions and proper dispersion has been flawless. In addition, their assistance with connecting us with multiple doctors who will come and visit is such a huge convenience. 4) The many staff members who not only assist with activities, taking residents to dinning hall, cleaning rooms, helping with incontinence issues, showering and maintenance, do a great job regardless of the time of day, weekdays or weekends, there is always great consistency. 5) They offer a really good variety of choices on the menu for every meal and no complaints about the meals. 6) Cathy, the front receptionist is so very pleasant and never tires from the many questions that a new residents family member may have, especially during the first few weeks. So, there you have it, my honest assessment after visiting so many places. A new home for my Uncle that I know he’s happy with and that I am at ease with, and not wondering if I did the right thing or not.

The staff is very friendly and concerned over my mom’s wellbeing. The staff encourages her to attend all events. Facility is clean. Management is willing to listen to us for her wants and needs and works to make changes in her health plan to meet our expectations. Debbie is always kind and willing to listen, she genuinely cares about the elderly.

Where do I begin to detail the wonderful care I received at the Skilled Rehabilitation Center. If I try and provide names of all the employees that took such good care of me I will certainly leave someone out. From the time I arrived until the time I left I was cared for by so many nurses, and those nurses in training, the PT and OT professionals, the administrators and housekeepers, and food staff! The 24/7 care was something I was not expecting when I arrived, but when it was time for me to leave I didn’t want to go! Thank you to everyone for your patience and kindness that I will never forget!

Overall I would give Pomeroy Rochester AL & MC 5 stars. We needed to find a place for a relative who had both Alzheimer's and additional medical issues and was quickly declining and could no longer safely be at home. The staff were absolutely wonderful with him, caring, kind, warm, and supportive. Due to his medical conditions he was not there long but every single staff member we encountered was lovely. Even as he drifted further from awareness they made sure to communicate with him what they were doing, sought his input, and respected his wishes- whether it was deciding if he wanted to go to the dining hall or declining food all together. My family and I will forever be grateful for the gentle and compassionate care he received, the conversations we shared, and the support offered to us as well. The facility was always clean and honestly we will miss the staff and other residents we got to know. There were only two things we found off -putting which was on the administrative side. First, when going over costs and such the 3k community fee was not disclosed until after my relative was moved in. That was something not fun to be blindsided with but was handled. Secondly a new policy for visitors was implemented on a Friday night but not properly communicated. In an effort to keep patients safe this location decided all visitors had to be on an approved list which is a great idea. However we didn't learn about this until one of us went up to visit and was denied entry. It was very quickly resolved with a call to Melanie but was an unexpected hiccup. The receptionist handled the situation with grace and compassion. My relative did pass away while he was there, due to his illnesses overtaking him. When we retrieved his belongings the next morning we were beyond touched by the support and comfort we were shown by the staff. It's obvious how much they truly care about the residents and their families.
