Pomeroy skilled nursing facility was a nightmare for my mother. The food was horrible and some of the staff (mostly night staff) were borderline cruel. We were a bit deceived when we went for a tour of the facility, as we were only shown the best rooms, so anyone taking a tour, be aware of this. Would not recommend.

I am extremely disappointed with the care provided at Pomeroy. While some staff members were kind and attentive, the overall experience fell far below expectations. Response times to call lights were often slow, and the staff was consistently sitting at the desk on phones/Ipads and eating. The facility itself was not as clean and well-maintained as it should have been. Bathrooms specifically were not maintained, and the fact that they share them with another resident would in my opinion require more frequent cleaning. One staff member responded to the call light and came in eating a bag of chips while the resident was in the bathroom. Most concerning was the lack of attention to individual resident needs. What was promised was not delivered. PT/OT was very limited. Basic ADL's (bathing, brushing teeth) were not assisted with or completed. An unlabeled, filled syringe was found in the room and when I brought it to the desk it was dismissed quickly. Was that intended for the resident in the room? Another resident? Who didn't get their dose? One day I arrived to find my loved one wearing the same clothes as the day before. She had never been assisted into her pajamas the night before. She slept in her clothes. The expected stay per the facility was 3 weeks! My loved one did not need extreme rehab, just getting back to baseline. They were independent prior to a fall. They would need to be there that long in my opinion because of the lack of consistent care. They allow residents to sit most days. Utilize wheelchairs, when they should be up walking, only furthering their weakness. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this facility to others seeking quality long-term or rehabilitative care for their loved ones.

We've had a mixed experience. The building is beautiful, always updated, its like walking into a 5 star hotel! but the people who live there, mostly look dirty and homeless. As a former medical assistant and CNA, its a bit disappointing. The bedrooms could be cleaner, no attention to detail. I wish my loved ones teeth were brushed and they looked clean. No amount of complaining seems to matter. Its fruitless to try and make people care. There are many great CNA's in this facility, but they are way over worked and have to pick up the slack for the lazy ones. The administration seems more interested in the general appearance of the building than the general appearance of those who pay to live there. Why? Dont look in the corners or under beds. Dust and dirt.

I would like to recognize three people who make skilled living center a caring place. Claire Craig the wound care nurse is outstanding at her job. She makes my family member feel cared about and heals the wounds patients get. She does whatever is needed to comfort the person. Shelia Shaver is an aide who spreads happiness wherever she is. Her smile and kindness makes my family member smile. A Smile and helpfulness is the medicine. Wish she was my family members aide every day. Brenda at the desk is always helpful. She guides me to the place where my questions get answers. A bright light when I come into a difficult place. The food is not good, the building needs updating, and many of the people who work there are not as kind as these three. skilled living is difficult for the patient and the care givers. Kindness could make it bearable.

My mother-in-law was at Pomeroy 8 years. She passed at 102 years old. She had a wonderful time there. She was busy with physical therapy, getting her hair done, nails polished, bingo, and enjoying all the planned activities. She especially enjoyed all the holiday festivities. We were always notified if there was a minor issue. Staff were excellent. Some of the staff even came to my mother-in-law’s funeral after her 8 year stay. We as a family highly recommend Pomeroy for your loved one!
