Update:::::Aug 16, 2026-<br>Good luck trying to contact corporate! I tried. Except mailing a letter…that’s my next step. But it looks like they might see it here.<br><br>I could say a lot of good things, like I did in my original review...but when food is really really an important part of our lives, especially for seniors, this place is a huge FAIL. When we did our initial visit in Oct/Nov 2025 the meal was very very good. They touted their great chef. This was a big factor for my mom choosing Independence Village of Carmel. This time in life isn’t always easy for the elderly and food SHOULDN’T be the problem! Shame on you! In 8 months Storypoint should be able to correct a problem like this.<br><br>Once she moved in in January 2026, that good chef was long gone or it was a facade they created for mom's visit. I can't tell you how many "chefs" they've gone through just since January 2026 but it's been more than you would ever think could be. It doesn’t appear they are hiring “chefs” to make their “chef prepared meals” as their website touts. They are hiring people off the street and trying to make them a chef. Mom pays a pretty penny for living here and can't have consistent good meals?!? My mom is resorting to ordering DoorDash and having to buy more groceries for a wheelchair bound 88 yr old who should be able to rely on good meals from the dining room. Does she get a credit in her rent for this? NO. This lack of consistent, good quality meals is a big problem! And a lot of the elderly can't or don't speak for themselves. So I'm speaking. I'm fed up for my mom and the other residents there. After all the research and comparing places to find the best place for her to call home then having to deal with the subpar dining is just too much. This IS a big deal for the elderly.<br><br>My mom lived at another community for 2 years that truly had a "chef" who created 3 beautiful meals everyday. AND ALL 3 were included in her rent, unlike Storypoint that only gives 2 meals. RARELY, was there a bad one. I wish she could have stayed there but she needs more physical help than they offered. The 5 other communities we visited covered 3 meals in the cost of their rent.<br><br>Like I started, I could share a list of things we like about IV of Carmel, specifically Corso Care with Elizabeth and her team (they are excellent!) but the unacceptable dining experience day in and day out, knocks out the rest of the list. If you could make the dining experience as excellent as Elizabeth has with Corso Care you'd redeem yourself and truly set yourself apart from the other communities in the area.<br><br>Otherwise, I'd think twice about moving here.

The staff here seem to really care about smooth transition and safety of the new and current residents. No one wants to be I. This situation but it makes it easier when there are folks like this helping plan everything out.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but families considering this facility deserve to know about our experience.<br><br>Our family moved my mother-in-law into this community after we were told that although she had early Alzheimer's disease, independent living with additional care services would actually provide her with more attention and a higher level of care than traditional assisted living. We relied on those representations when making an incredibly difficult decision.<br><br>Within less than two weeks, it became clear those promises were not being kept.<br><br>The most alarming issue was that my mother-in-law had begun wandering the property. Before she moved in, we were specifically assured our family would be notified immediately if this ever happened because of the obvious safety risks. Instead, no one contacted us. We only learned she had reportedly been wandering frequently when a nurse texted my wife asking her to let the staff know if she couldn't find her mother while she was on her way to pick her up. That was the first time our family had been informed this had been occurring.<br><br>We also discovered an infected wound that had not been properly cared for. A nurse acknowledged that the dressing should have been cleaned and changed but wasn't.<br><br>Despite being told staff would regularly encourage and escort her to meals and activities, she was often left isolated in her room and served cold meals there instead. The engagement and supervision that had been promised simply did not happen.<br><br>For us, the undisclosed wandering was the final straw. We removed her after only 13 days because we no longer believed she was safe there.<br><br>Unfortunately, the problems continued after move-out. My wife reached out asking whether there was an exit survey or an opportunity to provide feedback, but received no response. She also contacted the facility to confirm whether there was any remaining balance and was told via text that nothing was owed.<br><br>Weeks later, we unexpectedly received a bill for the entire month.<br><br>Rather than spend months in a legal dispute while caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's, we ultimately chose to pay the disputed balance simply to put this experience behind us. That payment should not be mistaken for agreement with how this situation was handled.<br><br>Families place an enormous amount of trust in facilities like this. Communication, honesty, and follow-through are not optional when the safety of vulnerable residents is involved. In our experience, those expectations were not met, and we cannot recommend this facility to anyone looking for dependable care for a loved one.

I am staying at this facility for a respite stay. I did feel safe here and most people have been friendly. I would have given it a higher rating until I had a horrible experience last night. I went to visit my son and when he brought me back, I was locked out. I called the telephone number several times, only getting a recorded message. I finally was able to reach someone who could help. The facility should have an emergency number for residents who get locked out or at the minimum give residents printed information telling them what time they are required to return. I had no idea I would not be allowed re-entry until it happened. It was very scary.

I would never recommend this place. Management changes constantly, they never contacted us about issues with mom. Her room smelled bad always. Room not cleaned well or her. Her health got worse and worse and they were over charging us. Once we moved her we realized just how bad her care was there. Her life and health have improved greatly in her new facility and she pays over $1000.00 less a month. All this place has to offer is stress and anxiety. So glad mom is no longer there. My advise, stay away
