About Farmstead Living

Farmstead Living is an assisted living, advanced care, and memory care community located in Moorhead, North Dakota. The facility was built on 12 acres of farmland by Roger Erickson, a Moorhead native, with his parents in mind, and is locally owned, allowing important decisions to be made internally and in a timely fashion.

The community operates two distinct settings: The Villa, designed for those who can benefit from personalized support while enjoying the residential setting and autonomy of independent living, staffed 24 hours a day; and the Farmstead Care location, a 24-hour staffed community providing assisted living, advanced care, and memory care. Both locations feature nurses and trained staff delivering personalized care, assistance, and social engagement in a residential setting.

Farmstead Living maintains an exceptional caregiver-to-resident ratio and is dedicated to providing a clean, healthy, and safe environment for residents of all ages with varying care needs. The modern open-concept design features light and airy spaces with plenty of opportunities for residents to engage with their neighbors and community.

The community keeps residents active and engaged at a level that fits their individual needs, offering various in-house social opportunities and off-campus activities that keep residents plugged into the Fargo-Moorhead community. Farmstead emphasizes the importance of living as an integral part of its mission, supporting residents' autonomy and independence while providing the care and assistance they need.

FAMILIES BEWARE!! I don't want you to go through the same thing we did. It is a shame how they treat their occupants.

I would give this place a negative review if I could.

We had our dad in this facility for only a month before we moved him out. We were told that the staff was trained in Alzheimer's and dementia patients, but their training is substandard at best.

My dad was able to walk with a walker when he arrived and had not fallen for months prior to moving in. Within a couple weeks he was falling multiple times a day. And when we moved him out after just 1 month, he had lost 9 pounds and could not walk at all.

We installed a camera in his room to see what was going on that was causing him to fall. What we saw was disturbing. There were times that he had fallen and was laying on the floor calling for help (with his room door open) and help did not come for several minutes-up to 30 minutes. My sister even had to call the Moorhead police department to go to the facility, because we could not reach the staff via all their contact numbers (to include their emergency numbers) while she watched him lay on the floor calling for help.

The meals that they provide are a joke and are not nutritious. One of his meals consisted of a chicken breast sandwich which was smaller than a standard hamburger bun, a bit of broccoli and raisin salad, & potato chips. We asked that he be given a larger portion and we even provided protein shakes for him to be given every day. They finally started to give him those after a couple weeks when we kept reminding.

We reported his whole stay to the state of Minnesota, but they did nothing. But we found out they have been reported and fined previously.

When we moved him out, we found a vape pen on his entertainment center that a worker left in his room. We didn't have it tested, but we could smell the marijuana in it.

If you truly care about your family member that you are thinking about housing in this facility, I recommend looking for a different facility.

Our moving clients at Farmstead have been more than happy with their new home and love to refer others their. It's a great addition to Moorhead and surrounding area! It's a bit of a hidden gem to those west of the Red River but it is definitely worth the visit before deciding on you or your loved one's next home. Jimmy - Owner, Senior living Moving Company

My mother recently moved to Farmstead and they have helped her make this difficult transition from home to a care facility. She especially loves Jill, one of the day staff. The nurse, Tempestt, has also been amazing. She is so helpful, kind, and patient.

Farmstead is the best! I couldn’t recommend it more. Their buildings and amenities are updated, clean, and modern. Staff are friendly and eager to help out with anything. While being there, I’ve heard multiple residents say that choosing Farmstead was the best decision they’ve ever made. Highly recommend for Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care!!
