I recently had the opportunity to tour Elm Meadows Senior Living, and I was truly impressed by the welcoming, clean, and comfortable environment. During my tour, I was able to view both the spacious private and double-occupancy rooms, which provide residents with options that can accommodate different preferences and needs. The bathrooms and showers are also handicap accessible, which is an important feature for promoting safety, independence, and dignity among older adults. What really caught my attention was learning that the owner is a therapist and is committed to incorporating daily therapeutic activities for the residents. As a geriatric specialty Occupational Therapist and Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS), I understand the importance of meaningful engagement, purposeful activities, and maintaining functional abilities as we age. I was especially pleased to hear that therapeutic activities will be an integral part of the residents’ daily experience. Elm Meadows Senior Living offers a unique home-style setting that feels eclectic, clean, private, and comfortable. It provides a warm atmosphere that feels more personal and intimate than a traditional large facility, while still focusing on the needs and well-being of its residents.
