Everyone comes across friendly and caring however mom's first day there and she's been over medicated and I'm unable to reach a nurse. Not happy so far.

If I could give this facility zero stars, I would. I strongly discourage anyone from placing a loved one here unless they are comfortable with chronic understaffing and residents being left without assistance for extended periods of time. The turnover among qualified nursing staff is rampant. Employees are expected to manage an extreme workload, which inevitably leads to burnout. Staff simply cannot keep up with the demands placed on them, as there are not enough hours in the day to complete the required work safely or effectively. Family complaints appear to be frequent and numerous, to the point that the facility cannot adequately keep up with addressing them. In addition, the organization has had three executive directors in the past three months, which should be a major red flag for anyone considering this facility. Executive leadership appears unwilling to hire adequate staffing, seemingly prioritizing cost savings and bonuses over proper care. Employees are frequently treated with hostility and harassment, which raises serious concerns about how residents may be treated behind the scenes. During visits, there was a noticeable smell of urine and general uncleanliness throughout the facility. Residents appeared unkempt and not properly cared for, which further reinforces concerns about daily hygiene, oversight, and overall quality of care. Given these conditions, a review by DSHR may be necessary to ensure the facility is complying with state regulations and to evaluate the overall welfare of its elderly residents. For a cost exceeding $8,000 per month, I would urge families to consider alternative facilities.

This establishment is woefully understaffed and not capable of providing the care they are all too eager to bill for. Their only responsiveness was to alert us that they needed to bill us more for the care they were barely able to provide, if at all. One of my parents went unbathed for nearly two weeks. Their staff was regularly unable to assist with daily needs such as teeth brushing, bathing, transfers, eating assistance or general support requests. The community leadership spoke of correcting these situations, but all too often, we heard from our parents that the support staff did not have time to allow them to brush their teeth or wash their face. One of my parent's catheters was regularly stored on the floor of the shower and then re-used, resulting in multiple UTIs over the course of 2 months. Several of the supplies and products we purchased for our parents' move-in were either taken and/or unused - such as toothpaste, handtowels, toothbrushes, faceclothes, towels, etc. My parents were regularly left to sit in their wheelchairs for several hours without anyone responding to a request to transfer to a chair or their beds. This resulted in bedsores forming on the contact points of the chair for one of my parents. My siblings visited my parents on several occasions and during one of the visits, found one of my parents in a wheelchair in the middle of the day, left in their room with the lights off, blinds closed and TV off, alone. My parent was not sleeping or resting, nor did they request to be left in a dark room. I would highly recommend anyone looking for an assisted living facility steer clear of this place and would caution anyone who is considering bringing their loved ones here. Zero stars.

My husband was in the memory care section of Sunrise. The entire staff was hard working and compassionate. In the short amount of time he lived there the staff really got to know him so well and treated him so kindly.

Brighton Gardens took my Dad into their Assisted Living facility under difficult circumstances and welcomed him. Over the past few months, I have really appreciated the care staff who take the time to call me regularly with updates. They let me know not only if there is an issue to deal with, but also contact me when things are going well. I have been helped when I've needed to find a doctor, audiologist, buy a new hospital bed,etc. As I live outside the USA, this has all made it much easier to care for my Dad from a distance. UPDATE May 2025 sadly, the initial positive experience wasn’t to last. Dad received very loving and dedicated attention from the care assistants, who continually went over and above to help him as his dementia worsened. Sadly, a new director was appointed and it was immediately clear that there was no interest from management in providing excellence of care. My father’s room was absolutely filthy, he was left half clothed on a bare mattress and when I visited I realized most of his bedding and lots of clothing had disappeared. I would have gladly provided more had anyone told me. When we moved him and asked for an exit interview, we politely expressed our disappointment to the director who completely ignored us as we spoke and simply completed a form confirming that Dad was leaving. Management needs to change. I can only say how much I admire the care staff who continue to work there with such poor management. Our over riding memory now is that the “powers that be” simply did not care.
