About Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a 114-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Elgin, Texas. The center serves patients requiring rehabilitation and extended care, including those recovering from surgery and those needing ongoing medical support.

Family experiences at the facility are decidedly mixed. Positive reviewers consistently praise the staff's genuine care and work ethic, with one family noting they "watched the CNA work hard...trying to do their job and help the patients the best they could." Multiple families highlight regular communication from nurses and social workers about care plans and medication updates, and specific staff members, including nurses Alexis and Jessica, and admission director Dayna Crim, receive praise for going above and beyond. Families also mention clean facilities and enjoyable community events. However, negative reviews raise serious concerns: medication management issues, inconsistent bathing schedules, cold food, missing personal items, and inadequate care during illness. One family reported their mother was not given prescribed pain medication regularly and had to repeatedly ask staff for it.

Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center holds a 4 out of 5 Google rating across 31 reviews. The breadth of conflicting experiences, from five-star testimonials to one-star complaints about care lapses, suggests outcomes may vary significantly depending on individual circumstances and which staff members are involved in care.

Elgin Nursing & Rehab did a great job of caring for my Aunt. We had a few incidents but nothing that wasn't addressed immediately. I loved that the nurses & staff contacted regularly regarding care plans & medication updates. Alexis is an OUTSTANDING nurse she helped whenever needed & she always went above and beyond. Even after discharge I was able to ask her questions. Nurse Jessica did a GREAT job making sure that I had clear instructions & all meds on discharge. The administrators Trun, Monica & Travis were available whenever I needed them & they followed through. Majority of the nursing staff id friendly & helpful. The facility is clean, odaor free & welcoming when you walk through the door. I'm very thankful for this staff taking care of my Aunt & currently my Uncle.

They lost (stole) my father’s clothes. One pair of pants was very recognizable and meant a lot to him and they say they have no idea what happened to them. They also went without giving him a bath for two weeks until my mom said something and so they came and wiped him off. His food is also normally cold. One night, for dinner, they gave him a cup of cottage cheese and peaches. My brother ended up going to get him something substantial to eat.

As of the writing of this entry, I have been deathly sick with a stomach infection for over 3 weeks now and have received little or no care.<br>I see this with so many other residents also. Friends, please look at this facility very closely before you think about placing your family member here. The quality of care is poor.

All the staff was excellent. They were patient and took very good care of my husband. The patient rooms could use some upgrades. The toilet was loose as well as the faucet in the sink n
