I would not recommend this rehabilitation facility. My mother experienced a sudden and significant cognitive decline while under their care. Rather than recognizing that something was medically wrong, staff repeatedly dismissed her symptoms as her “baseline” condition. As her family, we knew this behavior was completely out of character and repeatedly expressed our concerns. Instead of investigating the cause of her sudden confusion and decline, the facility labeled her as “non-compliant.” In reality, she was experiencing a serious medical emergency that required hospital-level evaluation and treatment. We ultimately had to involve her oncology team to advocate for her transfer to the hospital because our concerns were not being taken seriously. Once she was evaluated outside the facility, it became clear that her condition was not simply behavioral or baseline cognitive impairment. The lack of urgency, failure to recognize a significant change in status, and dismissal of family concerns were deeply troubling. Families trust rehabilitation facilities to recognize when a patient’s condition changes and to seek appropriate medical care. In our experience, that did not happen, and it could have had serious consequences for our mother.
