About Briarcliff Health & Rehabilitation

Briarcliff Health & Rehabilitation is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in South Bend, Indiana, with a dedicated memory care unit. The facility serves residents requiring post-surgical rehabilitation, wound care, and extended care needs.

Family experiences at Briarcliff are sharply divided. Those with positive stays consistently praise staff warmth and attentiveness, particularly in the memory care unit, noting that nurses and aides respond promptly to questions and involve families in care planning. Several families highlighted professional physical and occupational therapy services and the facility's clean appearance. However, a substantial portion of reviews describe slow response times to call lights, inconsistent care quality between shifts, and staff who become attentive only when family members are present. One family wrote, "they would hardly come in his room. When they do they just say what's wrong or what do you want." Concerns also include medication management errors and limited meal options.

The facility holds a 3.8-star rating based on 61 Google reviews. The split between five-star and one-star ratings suggests the quality of care may depend heavily on which unit a resident is placed in or the specific staff on duty during their stay.

I am so grateful for the care my mom received here. She went there for rehab after her surgery, and the staff did an incredible job helping her regain her strength and confidence. From physical therapy to daily support, everyone was patient, professional, and truly dedicated to her recovery. What really stood out was how accommodating they were to her individual needs. They took the time to work around her translation challenges and made sure she always felt understood and comfortable. They also respected her food preferences, which made a huge difference in her overall experience. It’s clear that the team here genuinely cares about their patients and goes the extra mile to make them feel at home. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for quality care and compassionate support for their loved ones.

I am very thankful for the care my loved one receives at this nursing home. The staff are compassionate, patient, and attentive to residents’ needs. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and creates a welcoming atmosphere. Communication with families is excellent—they keep us updated and are always willing to answer questions. Most importantly, my family member feels safe, respected, and cared for here. I truly appreciate the kindness and dedication of everyone working in this home.”

My grandma was here for a stroke in the rehab department she ended up getting a nasty bed sore from neglect. They had her in a wheelchair all day and she sat in her urine and feces. Now she is in hospital trying to recover from bed sore. I would of never put a loved one here!!!

We had a hard time picking a nursing home (memory care) for our father. But once we decided on Briarcliff, we had zero regrets. The staff was caring, the facility was super clean. We were very comfortable with the care he received while there. We enjoyed the other memory care residents also.
