I would agree that this center, previously and currently, offer a multitude of programs. However, several of us decided to leave due to staff's behavior and their political comments. Before the pandemic and over the pandemic as well as after, I and many others, heard both Carol Peake and Mary Blythe Chipman, state very extreme political statements, about hating Democrats, hating The City of Monore, their employer, hating seniors who had different views and even hating City of Monroe staff, who had different views. Many of us did not feel that this was appropriate or legal. We understood that this was a political time, but their views should not have been shared on site at the senior center. It is surprising that these two employees, are still employed. They both have stated that they Hate their employer and others in The City and have politicized the pandemic, along with verbal negativity. Why does The City of Monroe continue to sit back and let this continue? It does not make any sense. Several people, including myself, have left the City of Monroe. We will not return. This, to us, is unacceptable behavior. We would hope that The City of Monroe would review these two employees and this situation.

My family and I previously lived in Monroe, NC, but decided to leave the area. When we lived in Monroe, we saw EXTREME POLITICAL DIVISION. Monroe caters to WHITE PEOPLE, WHO ARE EXTREME RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS and EXTREME REPUBLICANS. Over the years and especially during the PANDEMIC, we saw and heard many people in MONROE became very POLITICALLY VIOLENT. My family and I supported and enjoyed the previous Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center, now the Bazemore Active Adult Center; however, the STAFF that we encountered, were very VOCAL and POLITICAL. Two of these STAFF, who are currently EMPLOYED, stated that they HATED DEMOCRATS. Several Churches, in Monroe, also aligned with HATING DEMOCRATS. Many residents talk about BOMBING IRAN and wanting to KILL IRANIANS and BLOW UP THIS COUNTRY.. More recently, we have seen MAYOR ROBERT BURNS and his FOLLOWERS, create CHAOS and NEGATIVITY, in-person and online, while posting and talking about HATING DEMOCRATS. Watching The CITY OF MONROE'S City Council Meetings, it is CHAOS, NEGATIVITY and EXTREME POLITICAL Division. This is NOT how CITY MEETINGS are conducted. It is IMMATURE, DISRESPECTFUL and INAPPROPRIATE to VERBALLY ATTACK others! Our family has HAD enough HATRED and EXTREME POLITICAL DIVIDE! This is UNACCEPTABLE! I would suggest that THE CITY Council requires accountability and formal legal actions to people in this CITY, contact the STATE OF North Carolina and The North Carolina ETHICS Committee to formally evaluate people in MONROE, North Carolina.
