About Arc at Sangamon Valley

Arc at Sangamon Valley is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Springfield, Illinois, licensed for 171 residents. The facility offers both short-term rehabilitation and longer-term residential care.

Family experiences at Arc are decidedly mixed. Several families praise specific staff members, noting that attentive caregivers, a helpful admissions coordinator named Brandon, and nurses like Ronda and JP made meaningful differences in their loved ones' care and comfort. One family with high standards as a long-term caregiver felt their expectations were met, and another appreciated the personal attention and friendliness of the team. However, a substantial group of families report serious concerns: persistent staffing shortages, delayed responses to call lights (one account mentioned over 30 minutes), missed or late medications, inadequate monitoring of vital signs, and inconsistent hygiene and bathing routines. Some families attributed lapses in care to overworked staff, while others described interactions with personnel as dismissive or unprofessional. One family noted the facility's cleanliness has room for improvement.

The facility holds a 3.7 out of 5 Google rating across 25 reviews. While advocates highlight caring individuals on staff and positive resident relationships, critics emphasize that quality of care may depend heavily on visiting family members and raises questions about operational consistency and management accountability.

Do not put your loved ones there, they are short staffed. They have gone through several administrators, Director of nursing over a short period of time.. Don't take only my word for it do your research . Therefore if they can't keep them positions what makes you think they are keeping nurses and cna's? The ones they do have are overworked and underpaid! They don't answer call lights in a timely manner (30 -45 minutes). If then. State has been called in several times this year , they have been fined this year. Not saying all.staff is bad but you can't be unstaffed and expected to do it all and do a good job. Think before you put your family here!!!

This place is under staffed , uses agency alot .Some of the staff is very rude and stressed out from being overworked and understaffed. Higher ups don't take accountability, don't acknowledge they are under staffed. One time it took staff over half hour to answer call light.<br>Don't put your loved ones here .

Very disappointed in the quality of care. Definitely gone down from Lewis memorial to ARC. Cleaning staff is a definite FAIL grade. Showers and change of clothes are not done regularly. If patient doesn't have loved ones who come for visits and care, patients are not well cared for.
