To refer to Adel Acres as a nursing home is an insult. I recently stayed there for rehab after a hospital stay. They have set the standard very high. The kitchen staff and food is great and creative. The nursing staff has set the bar very high. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a loved one, look no further if dignity, respect, and overall care is high on your list.

Grace is remarkable about representing Adel Acres with such pride. Rightfully so, it is a lovely place. She cares so much about her residents, staff and shows pride in it every day. Her team is dedicated to making their residents generously loved and cared for.

My parents Robert and Florence (103/92) entered Adel Acres in June 2021, having lived independently until then. The intake process with Grace was kind, compassionate and supportive of their dignity at a time of growing dependence. Michelle, Nursing Director, has been responsive and equally compassionate, allowing me at times to pummel her with emails. Megan, social worker, has quickly responded as well to broader questions and has been most efficient in organizing periodic Care Conferences. Jennifer, finance officer, has also helped to manage myriad details facilitating transactions effectively. Administrator Kody brings good spirit and leadership to his team and has always been immediately responsive to my questions. Two other nurses come quickly to mind; Crystal and Kim, who bring rainbows of joy into the room when they care for my parents. Tanya and Kendal also come to mind as sources of joy. Jeff, the property manager, exudes compassion as well as he meets the physical needs of my parents environment, a very spacious room which allows them to feel at home. Goodness… there are also so many other great staff; I am sorry not to name each of them. All staff have been wonderful! I recommend Adel Acres without hesitation!

What a lovely place to live! Good grief, this facility could be an extension of my living room, only it's cleaner. I walk in and the place smells like Grandma's house. Good food cooking, clean linen, people watching a little TV or taking a nap. A few laughs, some music and comfy furniture. The staff love the folks that live here, and they are loved back! The grounds, as well as the building, are well-kept. New carpet. No stains or unpleasant odors. I frequently see doctors and other professional staff there. Hospice care givers. Therapists. Families and children come visit. Places uptown to eat and pick up necessary supplies. Minivans to go to the doctor. Minutes from the Des Moines Metro, airports, lodging and interestate highways. Far enough away from the hubbub to get a good nights sleep. Sign me up! Like home, because it IS someone's home. (Friends included at no extra charge)
