White Oak Cottages

White Oak Cottages in Westwood, Massachusetts, is a memory care community specializing in residential care for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Part of Fox Hill Village in Norfolk County, the community is designed around a small-home model that prioritizes safety, engagement, and personalized attention.

The community's care approach centers on knowing each resident as an individual. Staff members learn residents' personal preferences, daily routines, and interests in order to plan meaningful activities and provide individualized support. Each household has a consistent care team made up of certified nurse assistants, nurses, and an administrator. All staff members who interact with residents receive specialized dementia and Alzheimer's care training, and a nurse is on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

White Oak Cottages consists of two small homes, each with common living areas including an open living room, dining room, kitchen, and separate den, along with 12 private suites. Each resident suite includes a bedroom, bathroom, ample closet space, and a bay window for natural light. The design features circular traffic patterns, secure garden access, and a peaceful environment maintained through text-message staff paging rather than audible alerts. The household design earned an Award of Excellence from the Assisted Living Federation of America.

Residents receive personalized care plans, medication administration, personal care and grooming assistance, and access to health services including on-site nurse practitioners and outpatient physical therapy. Additional services such as geriatric psychiatry, dental care, and podiatry are available. The community celebrates holidays, birthdays, and other meaningful events with residents. In most cases, residents may remain at White Oak Cottages for life, and if a resident's needs exceed the staff's licensed scope, the community can coordinate with licensed home health agencies to provide additional services in the resident's suite.
