I’ve lived here for five years now; my wife passed shortly after we moved in. I have no intention of leaving.

My apartment is spacious and has great views, and the full kitchen was one of the major features that led my wife and I to this place, although sadly now it’s mostly wasted on my meager culinary talents. ^_^;

This is an older building originally built as luxury apartments; thus due to its more solid construction, my apartment is surprisingly quiet. I never hear my neighbors at all.

Every day that it’s nice outside I walk along the walking paths. There are trees and greenery along the way, such that you don’t feel like you’re in the midst of a big city and don’t hear traffic noises. I’ve seen as many as five bunnies at one time scampering along the path, along with raccoons, crows, wild turkeys, and squirrels.

I have to wonder about some of the reviews of the food. I eat dinner here daily and I’ve seen two or three meals in these five years I would rate as subpar. The rest of the time they’ve been quite good and often excellent.

There are frequent outings on a shuttle bus equipped with a lift for walkers and wheelchairs, to local restaurants, shopping, and scenic spots. There is an amazing library on the third floor, and daily activities such as movies, a singalong, mini golf, puzzles, craft projects, and of course BINGO!

Bingo is life around here. :)

The nearby main thoroughfare in West St. Paul is Robert Street, and it is a wonder. They have EVERYTHING along that road: restaurants, dentists, car repair, bodywork and sales, a tailor, a Hobby Lobby, drug stores, grocery, hardware and liquor stores, banks, coffee shops, Target, Walgreens, Walmart… you name it!

I am not on medical services so all I can offer there is that my friends seem to have a nice rapport with their aides as they provide their medications at meals, and they are cheerful and friendly as I pass them in the halls.

After five years here I know pretty much everyone’s name, we all get along quite well, and probably the thing I love most about being here is living in community.

Now I have to say something bad about this place or I’ll sound like a shill, so I’ll mention that I keep a set of earplugs with me at all times in case someone burns their popcorn and the building fire alarm goes off. That thing could be heard to the VERY THRONE OF GOD.

Just sayin’.

I have lived here for about a year. I hope to stay here for the rest of my life. My has a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and a bedroom. There's a cafeteria downstairs that gives a hot meal for lunch and dinner, a continental breakfast. Both the staff and the residents are my friends.

I was recently in Transitional Care at Westwood Ridge 1 in West St Paul. It's a beautiful facility inside and outside. It's very clean, rooms are big and bright, Staff is professional and caring, Occupational and Physical Therapists are excellent. I highly recommend Westwood Ridge 1!

Severe lack of trained medical staff. Mom is the hospital with internal bleeding from a fall somewhere around 3:30am. EMS was NOT called until 9:45am. Family was not notified, I just happened to call at 9:20 when a nurse came in to the room and I overheard her ask my mom if she was in pain RED FLAG people.
P.S. She ended up passing away at the hospital a week later kidney failure and I'm sorry to say poor treatment on the nurses floor. Very inattentive and poorly trained nurses ( my opinion).

Worst two weeks of my life. Food was disgusting. I never have nausea or get sick to my stomach, was eating breakfast and threw up right on my tray. Brought what they called a turkey burger in for lunch. Never seen anything so gross in my life. Asked the food worker on what planet would anyone actually eat that? Dared him to take a bite, he wouldn't. If you or your loved one has impaired cognitive abilities don't go there. I had little or no cognitive impairment after my stroke and was able to understand what was going on in this place. Had a horrible attendant on nights named Beverly. This woman has no business working in a care giving environment. PM RN named CHris is wonderful as was Janea, an aide on nights. Got called a liar by Beverly when I shared with Janea that the remote for my bed hadn't worked the entire eight days I was there. ASked to see DR. Cook, resident physician, five days in a row. Never did see her. Don't put anyone here post surgery. I asked about pneumatic compression sleeves for my calves, like I had in the hospital. Got told not available. Seriously??
