Moving to Village on the Green was one of our best decisions, and 13 years later I still feel the same way. My husband, Bob, and I were first attracted to this location because it was so beautifully landscaped, on land that offered inviting ways to take advantage of the outdoors while being close to the vibrancy of Orlando. This community offers a wide variety of both apartments and villas, endless activities to enjoy, an increasing variety of dining opportunities, and an onsite full- service Health Center that has been one of Florida’s finest since its inception. But the best part of this community is its staff and residents who will bend over backward to offer support and reach out in friendship, offering rewarding opportunities to share fitness tips and life experiences, to enjoy meals and take trips together, and to share concern when circumstances call for it. From my perspective, these 13 years have been very gratifying, but I urge you to come sooner rather than later so you have the years to enjoy all that this community has to offer. The facility itself is well maintained, and the admissions process was efficient, professional, and patient focused. My father was admitted for short term rehabilitation following a hip fracture, and the physical therapy team appeared competent and engaged in his recovery plan. Their efforts were a notable strength of the facility. However, there were significant concerns regarding the quality and consistency of nursing care during his stay. The nursing staff frequently demonstrated deficiencies in responsiveness, communication, care coordination, and overall clinical organization. Response times to patient requests were often prolonged, and there appeared to be a reliance on care shortcuts that raised concerns regarding adherence to best practices and patient centered care standards. While I cannot determine whether these issues were related to staffing shortages, the care environment often reflected inadequate workflow management and insufficient attention to patient needs. Nursing assessments, follow through, and interdisciplinary communication appeared inconsistent, resulting in a frustrating experience for both the patient and family members. It is important to note that some individual nurses provided excellent care and demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness. Had the overall nursing team consistently performed at that level, my assessment of the facility would be substantially more favorable. In summary, this is an attractive facility with a strong admissions department and an effective rehabilitation team. However, significant improvements are needed in nursing operations, responsiveness, communication, and care coordination to ensure a consistently high standard of patient care. I hope the facility addresses these issues, as it has the potential to provide a much better patient experience.

I have been resident of VOTG for the past 8 Years. I live in a spacious 2 BR. apt. with 14 windows and a lovely view of our campus. There is an ever expanding menu of activities and multiple dining venues to enjoy. The health care facility proved to be excellent when needed for the care of my wife. I could not have asked for a better trained and caring staff that met her every need. I wish that I had moved here sooner.

Since Village On The Green came under new ownership, the quality of care and communication has declined tremendously. The food is terrible, phone calls go unanswered, and messages are not returned. I have repeatedly called trying to find out my father-in-law’s discharge date and discharge time, yet it is impossible to reach a live person. The Care Plan meetings are equally frustrating. Meetings are scheduled, but when you sit down with the Care Team, no one seems to have answers, and it is clear there is a major lack of communication and organization within the facility. I have personally addressed my father-in-law’s pre-diabetic condition during two separate Care Plan meetings and specifically requested that he be given Glucerna nutritional shakes instead of Ensure or Boost. His nutrionist assured me she would make the change and noted it in his chart, yet they continue bringing him Ensure. This demonstrates a serious breakdown in communication and attention to patient care. At Village On The Green, the left hand truly does not know what the right hand is doing. While there are a small number of nurses who genuinely treat patients with care and compassion, they are unfortunately the exception rather than the rule. Overall, the facility has become disorganized, unresponsive, and deeply disappointing. Families place trust in facilities like this to care for their loved ones, and Village On The Green is failing to meet even basic expectations.

I can’t say enough good things about Village On the green. From the moment we first visit the community and did the tour, we knew this was a perfect place. The warmth, professionalism, and genuine care shown by the staff made the decision easy for our family. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the common areas are always amazing, and the entire atmosphere feels more like a resort than a retirement community. But what truly sets this place apart is the sense of community. The residents are friendly and welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home. There’s always something going on—from engaging activities and wellness programs to social events for the residents and the family like summer parties to a great Christmas party with live music for everyone to enjoy. It’s clear that a lot of thought goes into planning things that enrich the lives of the residents. The most important is always the level of care which is outstanding. Whether it’s the nursing staff, the dining team, everyone treats the residents with dignity, patience, and compassion. Knowing that our loved one is not only safe but thriving here brings us so much peace of mind. If you’re considering a retirement community for yourself or a loved one, I wholeheartedly recommend Village on the Green. For me and my family is a great place to belong and we appreciate and value everyone here.
