Three Cathedral Square

Three Cathedral Square in Burlington, Vermont offers both independent living and assisted living for seniors age 62 and older. The independent living component comprises 68 one- and two-bedroom apartments overlooking Lake Champlain in downtown Burlington, while three floors of the building house Cathedral Square Assisted Living for residents requiring assistance with personal care and other supports.

The community, founded in 1977 and constructed in 1979, is located directly across from Hotel Vermont on Cherry Street, near the University of Vermont and UVM Medical Center. All utilities except telephone, internet, and cable TV are included in rent at the independent living apartments. The location provides convenient access to the Green Mountain Transit transportation hub and offers SSTA transportation services.

The community operates as a SASH (Support and Services at Home) location with a full-time SASH coordinator, part-time wellness nurse, and programming that includes social, educational, and recreational activities. An active Residents Association engages community members, many of whom are artists and community-minded individuals who participate in local culture and activities.

Independent living apartments are subsidized and available to households with maximum annual incomes of $54,540 for one person or $62,340 for two, with rent capped at 30% of income. All apartments are designed to be affordable to households with a variety of incomes. Cathedral Square is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization committed to being welcoming and inclusive.
