About Heath Health & Rehab Center

Heath Health & Rehab Center in Heath, Ohio is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility licensed for 150 residents. It offers rehabilitative services and extended residential care for older adults and post-acute patients.

Families report notably mixed experiences. Many praise the staff's warmth and attentiveness, one visitor noted seeing "laughter between the staff and patients" and feeling "the love" during a walk-through. Residents and families highlight friendly, responsive staff who communicate openly about care plans. Several families report meaningful improvements: one resident regained the ability to walk within a week after arriving. Meals draw both praise (described as "surprisingly good" with accommodations available) and criticism (one guest found room-service meals frequently cold). Activities and community atmosphere are appreciated, with themed events like Valentine's parties mentioned positively.

However, some families report significant concerns. Therapy services draw complaints about inconsistency, one family noted staff would provide therapy briefly then discontinue it despite repeated requests. Another family felt the facility was unsuitable for specialized rehabilitation needs. A small number of reviews characterize the facility as having poor cleanliness and dismissive staff attitudes.

Heath Health & Rehab Center holds a 4.3 out of 5 rating across 195 reviews, reflecting a split between enthusiastic supporters and notably dissatisfied families. Prospective residents and families should inquire specifically about therapy schedules and visit during active programming to assess fit.

I have been holding my thoughts back because Krystal asked me to, but she’s gone now. My experience here has not been good. Staff members tell you they’re going to do something, and they never do it. Then they give you attitude as if you’re bothering them. Therapy here is not good. They deal with you when they want to. I’ve asked over and over for therapy. They come for a couple of days, then never come back. I have been asking to be transferred for 2 1/2 years, and I never hear back from them. They act as if they are going to handle the situation but never do. They don’t respect your privacy or personal items and will mess your items up, then get mad when you ask them to put your stuff back the way you had it. I have had several instances where they have put down false things about me.
That isn’t true. They falsified my blood pressure numbers until I confronted them about it because they were not taking it. The nurse practitioner told me they were increasing my blood pressure medication even though they had not been taking it. He said my blood pressure had been reading high. I told him that my blood pressure was not high because it hadn’t been taken. He insisted because it was in the computer, it was true. The reviews on here are fake. They tell people that aren’t even in here to leave positive reviews so the place is painted in a positive light. There is always some sort of drama. I saw a review that says the administrator doesn’t address issues that arise now. That is true. My mother has reached out several times, left messages to deal with a very important issue, and she still hasn’t received any response. They sweep things under the rug and don’t address things. If you have the choice, don’t waste it coming here because you won’t get what you need. You would think they would put pride into taking care of people, but they don’t. On a positive note, I’ve come across some people that actually do, but outside of them, it’s trash. These people tell me things all the time that aren’t true. I have wanted to do the things that will get me out of here, but it’s some type of roadblock every time they don’t care if I rot here and refuse to help me. The kitchen doesn’t make homemade meals and one of the biggest issues here with every resident is that the food is bad; it’s either undercooked or burnt. I even received moldy or spoiled food.
They don’t respect religious choices and will send food against your religious beliefs even when it’s in your dislikes.

Love this facility. My grandmother and my aunt were both here and they took such great care of them both. The staff has such longevity that when you come to visit them you always knew who was taking care of them. Thank you Laurels of Heath for taking such good care of my loved ones.

I have toured several facilities in the Newark/Heath area and this one just spoke to me. Walking the halls by myself just to get the genuine feel and not have someone try to “sell” me on a place. I saw the laughter between the staff and patients and felt the love. Every staff member I walked by had a smile and hello. They were having a valentines party for the residents and that blew my mind. The dining room was full of smiles and chatter. I could tell they were having a great time. The building was clean and didn’t smell of urine like others I have walked through. I wanted to tell the administration how impressed I was. I spoke with Kim and Karen. Such great women. I could feel the love and compassion they both have just from our conversation. They answered every question without having to stop and think of a good answer. They are such kind good heart women. The whole building was just amazing. I can’t get over the warmth and love I felt. I have read some reviews and heard some not good things about this facility and almost didn’t go in but I am so glad I did. As it’s not time for my father to go to a nursing home yet I wanted to be prepared for if/when the day would come. I know God guided me to this facility and they will be my choice. Don’t always believe what you hear and see because without looking into it yourself because if I didn’t walk through I would have never known a place existed with such loving and caring people!
