About The Indigo at Elmhurst

The Indigo at Elmhurst is an assisted living and independent living community in Elmhurst, Illinois. It operates on a single-level design with memory care for residents with dementia, featuring indoor walkways and a fenced garden.

Families consistently praise the facility's thoughtful atmosphere and staff engagement. Many report marked improvements in their loved ones' wellbeing, residents becoming more active, social, and stimulated through daily crafts and activities. One family wrote: "My husband after 2½ years is smiling again, he is dancing." The fresh, light environment contrasts sharply with typical institutional settings in families' accounts. Meals receive positive mention, and communication with families is highlighted as strong. The trained nursing and care partner staff earn recognition for compassion, though one family noted variability: some staff bring genuine care while others can appear dismissive or struggle with openness to family input.

The community holds a 4.5 out of 5 Google rating across 37 reviews. While the majority reflect deep satisfaction, particularly from families managing advanced dementia, a small number of reviews raise serious concerns about staffing consistency, attentiveness to resident hygiene, and fall prevention. Families considering placement may want to discuss staffing levels and individual care protocols during a tour.

My husband has dementia with sometimes erratic behavior that other facilities have forced us to leave because of. May I just tell you all of the miracle change in my husband and the quality that has been added to his life since he has been at the Indigo every single person that has worked with us is absolutely exceptional. My husband after 2 1/2 years is smiling again he is dancing. He is hugging the nurses my heart overflows with love for these people and gratitude. I have been blessed by God to find this place for my husband. There is no other place that I have ever seen that is outstanding like this every time I go in their nurses are hugging patients and feeding them and loving them up and they are coming up to my husband, hugging him and kissing him and telling him how wonderful he is everybody. There is dedicated Sharon coordinated the whole thing. Marcus is the director when I had a rough patch with my husband. Mark told me he wasn't ready to give up on my husband. I love him so much. I will thank the Lord forever for this place. There is nothing like it. Thank you Lord for the Indigo Elmhurst.

My mom has been a resident of The Indigo at Elmhurst for five years, when we had to turn to memory care due to her dementia and nighttime wandering. The way The Indigo is designed all on one level allows her to enjoy walks inside with friends when the weather is cold and sitting on the patio in the lovely and expansive fenced garden when it's warm. My mom likes the meals and snacks, and I appreciate being welcomed with a cookie when I arrive for visits. She absolutely loves that there is a salon in the building, so she can get her hair and nails done and delight in conversation. My mom has made so many friends with both residents and staff, and we love all of the interesting and fun activities.

Very disappointed in the level of service our family member got an indigo. I saw staff being aggressive towards other patients. Additionally the staff adjusted/moved our camera many times so we didn’t know which employee was in the room.

We moved my 90-year old dad in to Indigo a few months ago. I cannot speak highly enough of their overall and personal care and attention I’ve witnessed their staff give to every resident. My father and I have always been incredibly close- I visit him often- he is content, safe, well fed, kept clean and is encouraged to join daily on-site activities. The entire team at Indigo Elmhurst are absolute angels and I am forever grateful for the loving care that they give to my dad and all the residents. ❤️✨
